As Duncan and Gemma‘s lives become more complicated at home, they are juggling the responsibilities of child care and work schedules. This causes Duncan to really push for a solution to this latest case. Rowing, Oxford, serial rapist, murder, police corruption, harm to a dog (the dog doesn‘t die), arson, it‘s all here. I did not see the ending coming. I love this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've been binging on the Deborah Crombie Kincaid/James series and just finished this taut little tale set in the elite rowing world of Henley. The more I read of this series, the more I am reminded of another longtime favorite author of British mysteries, Martha Grimes. The clever plotting and the quirky, likable characters in Crombie's work have the same appeal as Grimes' Richard Jury series, but very much updated for the 21st century.
