I generally like Megan Miranda.
Maybe the title was working subliminally on me (You Don‘t Belong Here) cuz
I had to bail. 😝😉

This is Megan Miranda's best yet. Riveting. Thrilling. A story to keep you guessing until the end.

I throughly enjoyed this story. It had so much. So many good thrills. So much family drama. So much to keep you guessing and most likely you will be wrong. Family secrets can be deadly. Or possibly they can keep your loved ones alive.

4.75 stars

I was a graduate of a small college where many students (including me) had legacy reasons to travel afar to experience a place often discussed in childhood. It also means I‘m drawn to books with that small college setting. I even had tunnels connecting all the buildings. Lucky for me me neither fires nor hazing happened within those walls - but we did know the late night path to a freezer filled with sugary goods in the motherhouse 🤣😇

This was a good mystery set at a college with some kind of weird tradition that both the MC and her daughter get involved in. I was a little confused by the end but after listening to that part twice I got it. I heard Megan Miranda talk briefly about this during her book tour for last year‘s book. It was inspired by some of the college tours she went on with her kid. Beyond the mystery, she captured that time in a parent‘s life well. Spoiler ⬇️

MallenNC A lot of trouble could have been avoided if the MC had made her daughter pick an in state college! 🤣 4mo

Miranda‘s books are always engaging & fast-paced pageturners & this latest, while not my favorite, is no exception. Narrator Beckett dreads dropping her only daughter off at Wyatt college—not only because of an empty nest but also due to her own past with that college. Her senior year, 2 local men died & her roommate disappeared. When an alarming call comes in the middle of the night, Beckett drops everything to investigate, even summoning her ex!

Beckett Bowery has returned to her hometown and the school she attended but didn‘t quite graduate from, not by choice, but because Delilah, her daughter, has secretly applied and been accepted to the same school. Too much water has passed under the bridge and things start to spiral out of control. Tradition, conflict between town and gown, fire, death, twists and turns, and the “howling". I loved this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘ve enjoyed her books before, but this one just didn‘t do it for me. The suspense is there; I just couldn‘t get into it.

This one‘s almost a 5/5, but the reasons everything happened in the earlier timeline are just a little bit too petty for the sense of danger to ever truly build and figuring out who the “villain” (a term I use very loosely) in the current timeline is was a little bit too easy. Overall, I just wanted the emotions to be punchier, I think—especially the bittersweetness of youth gone slightly wrong.
