Everyone Is Lying to You: A Thriller
Everyone Is Lying to You: A Thriller | Jo Piazza

The #tradwife murder mystery we've all been waiting for. From the bestselling author of The Sicilian Inheritance and the creator of the Under the Influence podcast comes an explosive thriller about two estranged friends, a grisly murder, a sudden disappearance, and the truly shocking revelation that everyone is lying to you about something . . . Lizzie and Bex were best friends in college. After graduation, Bex vanished, leaving Lizzie confused and devastated. Fifteen years later, Bex is now Rebecca Sommers, a "traditional" Instagram influencer with millions of followers who salivate over her perfect life on her ranch with her five children and handsome husband, Gray. Lizzie is a struggling magazine writer, watching reels while her young children demand her attention. One night out of the blue, Bex calls Lizzie with a career-making proposition--an exclusive interview with her about her multimillion-dollar business venture and an invitation to MomBomb, the high-profile influencing conference. At the conference, Bex goes missing and Gray is found brutally murdered on their ranch. Lizzie finds herself plunged into the dark side of the cutthroat world of social media that includes jealousy, sordid affairs, swingers, and backstabbing. She must learn who her old friend has become and who she has double-crossed to try to find her, clear her name, and maybe even save her life. Piazza's master storytelling and razor-sharp insight into the world of social media brings us a pulpy, juicy, and cleverly plotted read that will have you guessing all the way through and leave you gasping for more.

4⭐
While it had its issues, particularly with the ending (it did get a little difficult to follow exactly what was happening), I can't lie: I was thoroughly invested in the story. While the social media influencer trope feels overused, it's part of our reality, and this book offered a fresh, but slightly unhinged take on it.
🎙️The narration, with each POV having a separate narrator, was perfect.

KT1432 This one sucked me in too! I didn‘t expect it to be 4 stars for me because I was unsure of the influencer trope. 3d

Weekend mini #bookhaul. Didn‘t realize until just now that maybe there‘s a little paranoia theme going on here?! 😅

This was compelling and entertaining. Trad wife influencers that got murdery. I don't have Instagram, so this is a culture I don't know, and trad wives are my opposites, so this was a really interesting behind-the-scenes look at influencing. A reminder that what you see on the internet isn't real, but people are.

I never lied on my Facebook account, but I never put my life mess on there either. I put it on Litsy instead. You're welcome! 💐

Although fiction , it's an interesting look at how fake many influences are. Fast read with a good ending.

This feels like a juicy behind the scenes look at trad wife influencers, exposing the disconnect between reality and appearance. The focus is on Rebecca, in particular, whose husband isn't thrilled with her success. It was fun, though I didn't love the epilogue. Bring the popcorn!

KT1432 I concur! 😆 3mo

A thoroughly enjoyable juicy popcorn thriller! Influencer tropes can be overdone, but Piazza made this one sharp, funny, and surprisingly relatable. Like a behind-the-scenes peek at the curated and oftentimes intentionally misleading display of online celeb influencers and the ugly secrets that may lurk under their facade. I grew up in a small town and saw sordid scandals unfold amongst the most unsuspecting people, so I ate this right up! 4⭐️s!

bookandbedandtea I just read this book and said nearly the same things about it. 😂 It was fun! 🍿 3mo

Good pace, a well-thought out plot, & two appealing main characters made this one of those books you can't put down! The narrative is told from both Lizzie & Bex's points of view & it lifts the lid on the disconnect that these women are selling traditional gender roles whilst raking in millions of dollars & that probably very little of what is seen online is real. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf Overall I really enjoyed this fictional look at the darker side of the whole tradwife thing. 4🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, HQ, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

I liked the insider view of influencer culture, especially how it outlines the hypocrisy of the tradwife accounts (that I did not know about until I followed the author). It was a good twisty, turny story with surprises to the very end. The story grabbed me and kept hold of me.

LiteraryinPA I‘m listening to this now on audiobook and I‘m totally hooked! 4mo

An impulse listen and uncommon genre choice for me, but I‘m always here for a sharp yet empathetic critique of #tradwife culture! 😆 And I‘ve enjoyed the author as a podcast guest before. This was a fun, sometimes bonkers read with pleasing narration, and I flew through it.

LiteraryinPA I‘m listening to the audiobook now and I agree, I think both narrators are doing a great job! 4mo
