Labor Day brings out my inner socialist. Published in 1930, this is an urban "Grapes of Wrath" about the immigrant experience, deplorable working conditions, assimilation, and life in the slums. Read it in college and still think about it often.
"O workers' Revolution, you brought hope to me, a lonely suicidal boy. You are the true Messiah...O Revolution, that forced me to think, to struggle and to live. O great Beginning!"
Hobbinol I'm the same way!!!!! Thanks so much for posting! Made my holiday! 9y
