A young man who has improbably escaped death twice reveals his secret.
This was a decent short story. Odd Thomas vibes.

Some short stories manage to pack more tension and emotion into a few pages than some full-length novels, and Ushers by Joe Hill does exactly that. From the first page, I was drawn into this wild tale that explores survival and suspicion.
For such a compact tale, this short story is incredibly powerful.

A super quick, gripping story.
Hill inherited his father's knack for eerie topics that makes you wonder if just maybe all of this could be real.

A nice paranormal short story. The ending was predictable but I still enjoyed reading it. Martin was a likable character.

book updates!
Top left/audio: wonderful ya horror to get lost in. I preferred the horror of What the Woods Took, but the story here. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ushers: fantastic short story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Locklands: I mean, excellent end to the trilogy. I wish I‘d had the time to eye-read this though; I think it would have been better bc you can‘t capture some of those voices well 🤷♀️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have you seen this King-Sendak collab?😍
The other 3 I‘m still reading…

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. A thought provoking novella. It follows 2 detectives investigating a boy who has somehow been able to avoid being caught up in a school shooting at his school and also from boarding a train that ended up crashing. As soon as I had read the first few paragraphs, I knew I wasn't going to need to bookmark this one, I was clearly going nowhere until I had finished it.⭐⭐⭐⭐
