An absolute delight! This was my first Joan Aiken novel, but it won‘t be my last. Great pick, @TheAromaofBooks !

mabell It was fun! Great characters 😄 8mo
Chrissyreadit IAgree! 8mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! So glad you enjoyed it!!! I've had mixed results with Aiken's other books (although Wolves of Willoughby Chase is one of my all-time favorites). Also, I got your package!!! Thank you so much for your encouraging note and the little goodies for Mary Rose!!!! She has a small Amazon list but not much on it right now because she is staying with Dad and Mom so she doesn't have a lot of emergency needs. But thank you for checking!! ⬇ 8mo

TheAromaofBooks Whenever she moves back into her apartment (or a different one) we are going to throw her a shower because that is when she will actually need new stuff like towels and kitchen supplies and odds and ends. Right now she just doesn't have a place to store things so we are kind of waiting to see what info the landlords get so we have some kind of timeline for her life!! The landlords are waiting to hear from insurance people and contractors so ⬇ 8mo
TheAromaofBooks no one is exactly sure what will happen when 😂 But thank you so much!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ 8mo
julieclair @TheAromaofBooks I'm glad the package arrived safe and sound! I love the idea of a shower! So smart. If you are inviting any non-local people, I'd love an invitation whenever you have it. 😉 8mo
TheAromaofBooks Absolutely!! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. It's been overwhelming!!! And even though Mary Rose isn't technically homeless... she has still lost her home and it's very emotional. 8mo
julieclair @TheAromaofBooks I can only imagine. 💙😢💙 8mo

yes the plot is ridiculous. yes the bad people are really bad, the good people are really good. yes there are some questionable interactions. but i LOVED every page of hijinx and plotting and plot twisting. it was exactly the romp i love the most. mailing it today.

CoverToCoverGirl I love this review, it encapsulates every reason why I read. 💗📚 Most especially those types of books you aren‘t expecting to like but you do anyway. 😊 10mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. I don't now I had forgotten that the hero's entire family is named after Arthurian characters. Pro tip, if you don't want you son to be a villain, maybe don't name him Mordred! 😂 10mo
julieclair Ooohhh… can‘t wait! 😁 10mo
mabell Hijinks, plotting, and plot twisting - exactly! Such a good time! 10mo

Such a fun tale! As an ardent reader of Heyer Regency romances, this was a perfect fit! It is quite a tangled tale with duels, impersonators, and a complex family tree. 😄 Oh, and lovely friends!

I will definitely look for more Joan Aikens! Any recommendations for particular titles?

TheAromaofBooks Aiken is a weirdly hit or miss author for me. For instance, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase is one of my all-time favorite books - but the rest of the series got progressively weirder and creepier. She wrote several Austen sequels that I have enjoyed but not loved, as well. 11mo
mabell @TheAromaofBooks What a crazy coincidence! I just saw the Wolves of Willoughyb Chase secondhand yesterday! I saw the author and thought Ooohh, great timing! Then I read the summary, and I thought it seemed too dark for me. 😬 I should have just picked it up in case! 11mo
TheAromaofBooks It is a little dark for a children's book, but SO good. But I probably wouldn't chose it for one of our “lighthearted“ reads 😂 11mo

They‘ve arrived! Thanks, Sarah!

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! 13mo
Aimeesue Aiken AND Delafield! What a treat! 13mo
mabell @Aimeesue Aiken is completely new to me! I‘m looking forward to diving in! 😄 13mo
Aimeesue @mabell I‘ve not read any of her adult books, but her children‘s books are fabulous. I sill have my original copy of Arabel‘s Raven from my childhood. 🥰 13mo
mabell @Aimeesue Oh that sounds like fun! I‘ll have to keep an eye out for her children‘s books! 13mo

Very Heyer-ish in tone and humor, this book was a great deal of fun, with a likable heroine and tons of fun side characters. It got a little melodramatic at the end, but I was still here for it. 😂

Can't wait to hear whether the rest of you enjoy it!! @mabell @Chrissyreadit @julieclair

Librarybelle Sounds delightful! 13mo
mabell I‘m looking forward to it! 13mo

Okay friends, here are some choices from my shelves. The tagged book is the one I am leaning toward as I have been meaning to reread it for a while. The P&P one I have read before and know that it does not have any sexy times 😂 I have tons of other Heyer and Wodehouse options. The Princess is an old favorite of mine, but it is Christian fiction so I understand if that isn't everyone's jam. Let me know what you think!!

Chrissyreadit I‘m totally for the five minute marriage. 1y
Monica5 I haven't read any of these 1y

mabell The Five Minute Marriage would be just fine with me! I‘m also intrigued by The Runaways - I‘ll have to keep an eye out for that one! 1y
julieclair The Five Minute Marriage sounds great to me! My other top choices would be The Runaways and Sprig Muslin. 1y
TheAromaofBooks @Chrissyreadit @mabell @julieclair - I'll go with The Five-Minute Marriage this time around, but keep the others as possibilities for next time 😁 1y
TheAromaofBooks @mabell - Apparently it was originally published as The Linnets and Valerians, so you may have read it under that title. 1y
julieclair Yay for The Five Minute Marriage! @Chrissyreadit @mabell And I will go with 1y
mabell @TheAromaofBooks Surprisingly, it never crossed my radar! (Under either title!) But I‘m definitely going to be looking for a copy - it sounds fantastic! 1y
TheAromaofBooks @julieclair - Yay!! That one sounds fun!! 1y
TheAromaofBooks @mabell - I have a soft spot for Elizabeth Goudge. Her adult novel The Scent of Water changed my life. It's a quiet novel and not for everyone, but I absolutely love it. 1y
mabell That one sounds lovely too! 1y

Okay #GroupH - here are some choices. I have pretty much unlimited Wodehouse, but these are some fun ones. The Jeeves one is a collection of short stories so if you haven't read many of those before, they're a fun introduction to Wodehouse's famous duo. The bottom two books are random old favorites of mine that I would love to reread. The righthand one is the tagged book. Let me know what you think!!!

@Chrissyreadit @mabell @julieclair

Chrissyreadit I want to read all of them… 2y
mabell Having just read Summer Moonshine (review just posted 🤣) and read Carry On fairly recently, I would vote for Full Moon or the romances. 😊 2y
julieclair These all sound good, but I think my top 2 would be Full Moon or The Five-Minute Marriage. 🙂 2y

TheAromaofBooks Okay, so I am going to go with Full Moon!! And to recap, I have @mabell as The Provincial Lady in London, @Chrissyreadit as Frederica, and @julieclair as The Darling Buds of May. Does that sound right?? I'm so excited about all of these!!! 2y
mabell Yay! I am so excited too! This is going to be another fun round! 2y
Chrissyreadit ❤️🎉❤️🎉 2y

Day 4 of a book from my shelves with random thoughts -

I never know what to expect from Aiken, but this one was a delight. It would be more accurately named The Five-Minute Wedding, though, as the whole point is that the marriage lasts longer than expected! If you enjoy Georgette Heyer and the like, I would highly recommend this entertaining Regency romance, as it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Starting off #septphotochallenge a day late. With two small children I thought I'd have more books with numbers in the title. #numbersintitle. #somethingforsept
