#photoadaynov16 #booknerdproblems @RealLifeReading borrowed this- too tired to think tonight! But this is one among so many #booknerdproblems of mine... Finally finished Liberty's Exiles- well researched, fascinating case studies & an engaging read about the Loyalists, their exile/ refugee journeys' , challenges, & impact on the British Empire. Need to sleep💤💤😴

kspenmoll But I do not have a TV in my bedroom- have a bookcase & floor & side table stacks instead! 7y

In the United States the history of the American Revolution was written by the victors...Loyalist refugees simply fell outside the bounds of American national narratives. They received scant attention from British historians...reminders of defeat...Loyalists loomed largest... in Canadian history.
Today's goal: finish this book which is fascinating reading as I knew nothing about loyalist "refugees."plant daffodils for a break! #Nonfictionovember

Laura317 I like hearing BOTH sides of the story. It is true that the winners write the history books. 7y
kspenmoll @Laura317 Met Saturday's too ambitious goal tonight - so enjoyed the new thinking this book generated- 7y
charl08 Sounds great. I'm hoping to get hold of a copy of Olusoga's book soon which I think will have ties to Jasanoff's. 7y

More required reading for school, but this class is pretty awesome. It's called Historical Losers, and it looks at history through the eyes of the people who DIDN'T win the wars. Studying groups like the Populists and Native Americans, just to name a few. I ❤️ these books....📚📚📚(photo found on FB)

MrsV This sounds excellent. If this book is any indication of the class I wish I could take it! 8y
Leelee08 @MrsV It's awesome so far! I'm looking forward to all of the reading in this class.... 8y
UwannaPublishme What a cool class! Enjoy!! 👍🏻 8y

shawnmooney What an awesome idea for a class! 8y
Zelma I took a similar class called American Pluralism, which told U.S. History from the point of view of everyone else besides wealthy white men. It was fantastic. 8y
Leelee08 @shawnmooney It's pretty awesome! The professor has so much fun.... 8y
Leelee08 @Zelma I ❤️ that idea, too! 8y
