⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a delight, and I enjoyed the glimpses into all the different staff at Baldwin HS. A very realistic depiction of the lives of educators.

Great contemporary fiction following the lives of teachers in a large busy high school in Houston. Each chapter focuses on a different person weaving together the year. Lots of tough topics like death, abortion, immigration, and book banning but somehow the book is really uplifting. An excellent choice if you needs a hopeful book with substance!
When I heard this starts with a teacher being found dead in the faculty lounge, I was expecting a murder mystery. Instead, this is an exploration of what life is like for the various teachers at the high school and all the stuff they have to deal with now. It does maintain a positive tone and sense of humor while not veering away from current hard political realities. I enjoyed it.
Fascinating book about a retired teacher-turned substitute whose death impacts everyone there—especially as his ashes are accidentally wind-blown into peoples‘ faces at the Celebration of Life! Nice insights and cute humor as we see teachers doing what they do best (and sometimes not what‘s expected)!
