The Gold Cell: Poems | Sharon Olds
Mehso-so

One of the poetry books I got for close to nothing at a library sale - apparently the author is psuedo-famous.

Lots of nice lines but was not a fan of some of the poems in the first section.

I fell in love with her poem, "Topography." I think that her central comparison is so unique and amazing, comparing two intimate lovers to a folded map. I highly recommend this poem:
"After we flew across the country we
got in bed, laid our bodies
delicately together, like maps laid
face to face, East to West, my
San Francisco against your New York, your
Fire Island against my Sonoma."
