The A-List
The A-List: A Novel | Zoey Dean
5 posts | 13 read | 1 to read
Welcome to The A-List, a wickedly funny and risquT paperback original novel that takes readers behind the scenes of the intoxicating world of Hollywood glitterati. Seventeen-year-old Upper East Side blueblood Anna ("pronounced Aaaanah") Percy is on her way to Beverly Hills, California, where she'll live with her estranged dad for the rest of the school year while her mother travels to Europe with a friend. On the plane, Anna drinks too much champagne and gets hit on by record producer Rick Resnick. Luckily Princeton student Ben Birnbaum is there to save her and he invites Anna to famous actor Jackson Sharpe's wedding, where Anna meets the cast of rich and famous characters who are soon to be her classmates at Beverly Hills High. The fast times of Beverly Hill's most beautiful and glamorous people drive the page-turning action of this juicy new novel.

Pickpick

I picked up this series at a library book sale, because they looked like something that would be a light read. I think it would better be described as an escape than something light. They are fun for what they are, and it reminds me of a more current version of Sweet Valley High crossed with 90120. Dated a bit already, but will still continue to read through the rest of the series books that I own.

In the early aughts, much of pop culture was all about glitz, decadence, and attitude. It was the age of Gossip Girl, The Clique, and Mean Girls. Zoey Dean‘s The A-List was also a product of this time — and this week on my book podcast, I have bestselling author Zakiya Dalila Harris on to chat about the first book in the series. Link to listen in my bio! 🎧

Mehso-so

This book wasn‘t terrible. But it wasn‘t great either. I liked it enough to decide to continue with the series (because I want to see where Zoey Dean takes these books). Honestly, Anna was the only redeemable character of the book. The drama seems like WAY too much trouble for any girl to go through for a chance with a guy that doesn‘t want them.

#HeatofJuly Back in the day my daughter was obsessed with this series about #CaliforniaGurls 👙👗👛👠

keys_on_fire I just bought 5 of those at a library sale today. I‘d never heard of them before lol. Guess it‘s the phenomenon like when you buy a new car, suddenly you see them more because you‘re now aware of them. 😂😂 6y
BarbaraBB I don‘t know them but all titles sound like movie titles or pop songs 🕺💃 6y
