A Walk with Jane Austen: A Journey into Adventure, Love, and Faith | Lori Smith
4 posts | 3 read | 7 to read
Step into a Life of Grace At thirty-three, dealing with a difficult job and a creeping depression, Lori Smith embarked on a life-changing journey following the life and lore of Jane Austen through England. With humor and spirit, Lori leads readers through landscapes Jane knew and lovedfrom Bath and Lyme, to London and the Hampshire countrysideand through emotional landscapes in which grace and hope take the place of stagnation and despair. Along the way, Lori explores the small things, both meanness and goodness in relationships, to discover what Austen herself knew: the worth of an ordinary life. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I finished these both last night. The left book was thumbs up. The right book was goodish but then became so-so and then became thumbs down. I tagged it because some people I saw had added it to read. I hate to say it but it became sort of pathetic. It was much more about her desparate search for a husband and how she was to tired to enjoy her journey. (She did end up being diagnosed with Lyme disease).

Day24 #booktober #wishicouldbethere Where do I wish I could be? From a bookish perspective, I have always wanted to do a Jane Austen walking tour. I don't want to dress up and go all Austenland 😉 but, I'd like to explore and combine some touristy bits & favorite movie scene locations in with the countryside.

Dragon That's sounds fabulous, great idea? 8y
Suet624 I live right next door to The Governor's House in Vermont where she hits a Jane Austen weekend. Maybe you could check that out. 😊 8y
