I find that for me this author excels at the psychological aspect of her thrillers, but plot wise nothing much happens, and I don't get those caught up in suspense "omg what is going to happen next? " kind of feelings that I love from psychological thrillers. That being said it was a good read but not one of those cannot put down kind of reads that I love.

Panpan

MC is a dingaling, love interest is a wet blanket (w maybe a violent streak?🤔) And it ended in the worst possible way. Seriously, Lizzie made ONE good choice (job interview) but immediately negated by not following up & every other thing she did was fueled by immature love (read:obsession), excessive drinking, or pure self involved stupidity. I saw flashes of another side to her which kept me going only to be floored- and enraged- by the ending.

From the synopsis I thought it was going to be a taut thriller where the main character fights to clear their name, but instead, Lizzie goes all Nancy Drew & decides she is better placed than the police to find Rebecca & work out what happened. In fact most of what she does is chase after/call Dean to find out what's going on. It gets very repetitive & very boring very fast. 2.5⭐

(Continued in comments)

OutsmartYourShelf The MC is so much in Dean's thrall that it's slightly embarrassing to read about it. Everyone else was quite thinly drawn, even the detective investigating the case seemed a rather shadowy figure. It's a bit of a shame as the author can definitely write well but this is not a great book. Finally, I hated the ending.

My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, HarperCollins UK/One More Chapter, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley

Pickpick

This is a fast-paced thriller about family, the workplace, secrets, lies…you know…Al the elements that keep you in suspense! Lizzie has a crush on Dean, Marie is engaged, and Rebecca is keeping something to herself. Now figure it out…or just read and enjoy!

NovelGirl82 This sounds fun! 2y
