Crystal Shard
Crystal Shard | R A Salvatore
The fourth in a series of premiere hardcover editions of Salvatore's classic dark elf tales. This new release of the classic R.A. Salvatore novel continues the classic tale of Salvatore's signature dark elf character Drizzt Do'Urden(TM). Although this was the first title actually published about Drizzt, it has now been placed in its proper chronological order as fourth in the series. Each title in The Legend of Drizzt series showcases the classic dark elf novels in new, deluxe hardcover editions. Each title will feature all new cover art and new introductions written by those who have become familiar with Salvatore and Drizzt over the years. AUTHOR BIO: R.A. Salvatore was born in Massachusetts in 1959 and still makes his home there. He has published numerous Forgotten Realms novels with Wizards of the Coast, Inc., most of which have been "New York Times" best-sellers. He is also known as the best-selling author of the "Star Wars" Episode II "Attack of the Clones" novelization from Del Rey. "From the Hardcover edition."

Pickpick

Loved this book, 4th in the Drizzt series, but the 1st in terms of publishing chronology.

I think it holds up pretty well for 2018, save for some glaring disparity in gender representation - I think Catti-Brie is literally the only speaking female in the whole novel, and she basically has 2 functions - pointing out how great Wulgar is, and being rescued off-page.

Here‘s hoping a kickass female elf ranger or something joins the party soon :)

kyraleseberg This almost too much awesomeness to comprehend in one photo. I never knew I needed light-up chopsticks until this very moment. 6y

It‘s been a pretty slow start to 2018, a lot of my reading time normally happens on the train... but I‘ve been playing a lot of Nintendo and bailing on some so-so books lately. Drizzt has me back in a reading mood though!

11 years ago today, we went on our first date...and the rest is history. ❤️❤️❤️ (My husband doesn't read often, but he absolutely loves R. A. Salvatore and has read every book in which Drizzt is a character.)

I loved the first three books in this series so I was excited to jump on this one especially since it was the first one Salavtore ever wrote. Don't get me wrong - the book is fantastic, but the bar is so, so high after the first trilogy in this series. Make sure you read the first three books first because they do give lots of good background info.

Following "Sojourn", Drizzt has made his way to the surface finding a mentor along the way and making new friends who look past his race and skin. It's not long before his fighting prowess is put to the test in a magically infused war.
