I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet, cotton candy of a rom com. When the guy Audrey had often thought of as "the one that got away" happens to appear as the +1 of a guest the night before her wedding, she starts to wonder if fate is intervening (especially as a comedy of mishaps begin to befall the wedding itself). I appreciated how endearing the book ultimately became! And for those of y'all who *don't* like steamy scenes, this is a good option! 4⭐️

Before I Do by Sophie Cousens is a book about Audrey and Josh who are getting married. The book takes place between the hours before I Do and the Years before the I Do. There are so many signs that show Audrey why she should say I don‘t or is it just cold feet. Then unexpectedly Josh‘s sister brings a date to the wedding who Audrey felt like he was the one that got away. This is when things don‘t go as planned.

BookNightOwl I enjoyed this book so much. I don‘t know why I took so long to read it. I loved how funny the main character was. I loved the friendship and the mother daughter issues. The most important part is the writing got me all in my feelings. My heart felt at times happy at times sad and even on the verge of almost crying. I give this book an A+ 1y

The story starts with Audrey at her wedding that wasn't. In alternating chapters going back to hours before the wedding ceremony and years before the reason why the wedding didn't happen is slowly unfolding.

I liked most of the story. The romantic grand gesture didn't really resonate with me, it was a bit OTT.

Low pick!

Audrey is marrying Josh in 3 days. They are total opposites as he is grounded and stable and she has her head in the stars (literally, she loves astronomy). But she begins to have cold feet when his sister shows up to the wedding festivities with Fred (her “what if?” guy), who she had one amazing day with 6 years ago. Is Fate trying to tell her something or is it just nerves? This was fun but also a good treatise on how we sometimes put things 🔻

robinb from our past on a pedestal rather than taking off the rose-colored glasses. And sometimes those past over-the-top memories can sabotage our future hopes. Enjoyable story. 4.5/5⭐️ 2y

This is for anyone who thinks about “the one who got away” or what would‘ve happened if you chose to spend your life with someone else. It explores deep topics, but doesn‘t take itself too seriously. The wedding antics and supporting cast provide comic relief. My favorite scene was on a plane… so funny!

This book reminds us to treasure those who love us, live in the present and be honest in our relationships - advice worth its weight in gold.
