D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding
D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding | Chencia C. Higgins
11 posts | 9 read | 4 to read
In a romance featuring Black joy, plus-sized beauty, and Mexican pride, the conflicts are entirely believable, and not overly dramatic, and make for a thoroughly enjoyable read. It is fake dating at its best. --Library Journal, starred review. DVaughn and Kris have six weeks to plan their dream wedding. Their whole relationship is fake. Instant I Do could be Kris Zavalas big break. Shes right on the cusp of really making it as an influencer, so a stint on reality TV is the perfect chance to elevate her brand. And $100,000 wouldnt hurt, either. DVaughn Miller is just trying to break out of her shell. Shes sort of neglected to come out to her mom for years, so a big splashy fake wedding is just the excuse she needs. All they have to do is convince their friends and family theyre getting married in six weeks. If anyone guesses theyre not for real, theyre out. Selling their chemistry on camera is surprisingly easy, and its still there when no one else is watching, which is an unexpected bonus. Winning this competition is going to be a piece of wedding cake. But each week of the competition brings new challenges, and soon the prize moneys not the only thing at stake. A reality show isnt the best place to create a solid foundation, and their fake wedding might just derail their relationship before it even starts. D‘Vaughn & Kris get matched up on a reality show where they have 6 weeks to convince their families that they‘re in love, getting married, and plan said wedding. So much fun to watch them pretend to convince everyone they have feelings for each other while truly falling in love. so much good rep, lesbians, Black joy, Afro-Latinx pride, positive coming out, communication etc etc the ending was a bit rushed I thought but I still absolutely loved it

4.5/5

D'Vaughn and Kris each have their own reasons for joining Instant I Do, where they'll spend 6 weeks convincing their families that they're marrying each other. I thought this was such a fun concept for a romance as they are trying to fool everyone into believing they have feelings for one another as they simultaneously develop feelings for one another. The ending felt a little rushed, but otherwise this was a very enjoyable read.

Got another Starbucks near the end of my morning bike ride and settled on their patio to read some more of D‘VAUGHN AND KRIS PLAN A WEDDING. I started it before bed last night and didn‘t put it down until I was too tired to go on, then picked it right back up as soon as I was awake and didn‘t put it down until it was time to go cycling. What a great book. I‘ve bawled a couple times already and I‘m sure I‘ll bawl a couple more before the end.

What a cute, low drama romance novel! DVaughn hopes being on the newest season of Instant I Do will help her finally come out to her religious family while Kris is looking for the love of her life. All they have to do is convince their families that they're getting married in 6 weeks. If they make it down aisle without anyone guessing this is all for TV they get to choose between $200,000 or getting the all-expense paid wedding of their dreams.

I literally put this book down (okay, the e-reader) halfway through because these characters were so sweet, I couldn't bear the idea that they would be unhappy for a chapter or two. Just the cutest falling in love while on a fake dating reality show story.

My second fake dating book of the month, this one was much better than the last. Low drama, this is a nice people finding each other book. I cannot get over the reality show, it seems so weird!

This book was everything I could want in a book. D‘Vaughn and Kris, both black lesbians signed up for a reality tv show in which they are partnered up and told to convince their family they will be getting married in six weeks. Slight hiccups here and there, not to mention that D‘Vaughn still has not come out to her family. Will they make it to the alter? A true feel good book. I can not wait to reread it ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
