"You want to make your life easier? Then be the caged bird that you are and sing." For ten years, I've lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas's golden castle. But one night changed everything. Now I'm here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom's army, and I'm not sure if I'm going to make it out of this in one piece. They're marching to battle, and I'm the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war. At the heart of my fear, my worry, there's him-Commander Rip. Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is. Fae. The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, wiping out Seventh Kingdom in the process. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes-his eyes are the most compelling of all. When he turns those black eyes on me, I feel captive for an entirely different reason. I may be out of my cage, but I'm not free, not even close. In the game of kings and armies, I'm the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them? This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner series. It's an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive story of magic inspired by the myth of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea. Please note: There is explicit language and romance in this book, not suitable for those under the age of 18.

I have been a big fan of this series so far. While a pretty predictable trope of enemies-to-lovers, I love the way that it has been done. It reminds me a bit of the Throne of Glass series that I adore. This main character starts out as a strong female lead but you see her grow even more in this book. The tension between Auren and Rip is palpable through the pages. When she ends up picking Midas is disappointing but clearly what was going to happen

I enjoyed book two more than book one. It still feels a little slow, but like the first one, I believe it's just building plot!
So many secrets were revealed in this one! I really love all the characters in this book. I feel so bad for Auren. She's such a nice person, and none of the other 'saddles' care to give her a chance due to their jealousy.
I can't wait to see where this series goes.

This is the 2nd book in the King Midas series. I could tell that it was a 2nd book, a connector between 1 & 3. A lot happens, but there are parts that nothing seems to happen and is quite boring. But even with the boring parts this is an excellent book and really sets the stage for book 3, and I can not wait.

Book 2 in my “binge-a-thon because the weather is stupid” reading. I‘m loving how she is turning an anti-hero into a hero. I‘m loving the characters and the character growth! She‘s even made me tear up a few times in both the first two books! Off to read the third book!

Truly a binge-worthy series! I picked up Glint, and Gleam right after I finished with Gild, and the story does get better. A lot better. The character development was so deftly done, I want to cry just thinking about it. There are comparisons to ACOMAF, and as much as I loved that one, I love this a whole lot more. And the twists! The author's just so good at this. Going to start Gleam now.
