#TransRightsReadathon book one! The strength, creativity, tenderness, and power of trans and queer resistance in the past ten years is here beautifully brought to life in a series of interviews with QTBIPOC activists, lovingly gathered and fully illustrated by queer artist Syan Rose. Subjects include trans financial assistance, fat queer performance art, community gardens, sex work, disability and accessible healthcare practice, and so much more.

I‘m excited to be participating in the #TransRightsReadathon, proposed by nonbinary author Sim Kern, in support of the trans community and in response to a frightening rise in anti-trans legislation in Georgia and across the country. Participants will be reading books by trans and nonbinary authors throughout the week and donating to organizations that fight for trans rights. I am supporting Georgia Equality with my readathon, as they fight SB140!

This is an important document, a collection of perspectives of resistance. It centers a diverse set of views and voices, all set to art by Syan Rose. The lettering is difficult to read at times, but this was only an occasional stumbling block for me. I would say the documentation of various people‘s work is the focus here, not extensive biographies or analysis of the work and its effectiveness. ⬇️

Our Work Is Everywhere: An Illustrated Oral History of Queer and Trans Resistance by Syan Rose is a fantastic and short graphic nonfiction read featuring dozens of contributors discussing the ways that they have been involved in queer community, activism, and resistance. The text is sometimes a little difficult to read in my opinion, but it is overall a really great book and well worth the read.

My local indie is now open for walk up window book shopping. It was nice to see the shop again, even if it was from outside. I also got my first vaccine today!
