Over the Falls
Over the Falls | Rebecca Hodge
7 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
For fans of The River at Night, Rebecca Hodge's next thrilling read explores how far one woman will go to find her sister. It's early June in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee, and the idyllic beauty of the landscape belies the darkness that lurks beneath the surface. Bryn Collins has been living in isolation for fourteen years after her fianc, Sawyer, jilted her for her despised sister, Del. Although a life-threatening accident ended her days navigating the perils of whitewater, she still finds refuge kayaking in the local lakes. But Bryn's placid life hits the skids when an unwelcome cast of characters reenters her life. Del goes mysteriously missing, and her fourteen-year-old son, Josh, arrives to ask for Bryn's help finding her. His father, Sawyer, had been killed in a plane crash and he has no one else to turn to. Carl, an unruly punk the sisters knew years before, is desperate to find Del because she owes him money. Bryn and Josh follow an ever-elusive trail to Colorado, and at the annual Mountain Games competition in Vail, they finally confront the truth. For Bryn, all roads lead to the river, and on vicious Colorado whitewaters, she must muster every ounce of courage and strength to save what she most loves in the world.

Bryn lives quietly in rural Tennessee- avoiding people as much as possible after a terrible betrayal 15 years earlier. But when the product of that betrayal unexpectedly arrives at her door, she is forced back into her past to help her nephew. Well-performed, the two narrators bring these characters to life. And while the villain may be a bit over the top, it‘s an engaging story and one I couldn‘t stop listening to! #AudioColoring

So close to clearing the #LittenListen board this month, but I didn‘t end up reading any classics! Had I finished The Shining, I would‘ve counted that as a Halloween classic, but I decided to start four different books at the end of the month, and therefore didn‘t finish ANY of them 🖤🤪

Thanks again for hosting @aperfectmjk

Here‘s the first chunk of books I‘m hoping to get through during #Scarathlon2021. These are all the thriller, suspense, mysteries, and cozies that I have on my #NetGalley app. I‘ve been holding onto them specifically for October. 🎃

Jemgirl2014 This ties into my question about the bonus TBR picks for the Scarathon. Do we tag you in a post or are you going to provide us with an email to contact you? This is my first time and I feel I'm going to be asking a lot of questions lol 3y
Clwojick @Jemgirl2014 you post a picture on Litsy and then tag me in it. Same goes for all posts related to the event throughout the month. Just tag me in the post. So your weekly point totals, your answers for any games, and your posts about what youre reading etc. 😊 3y
Jemgirl2014 @Clwojick Got it! Thanks so much! 🤗 3y

I read Wildlands and loved it. Now Over the Falls is another one to love. This book is so good. It's a bit mystery. A bit of a thriller. A lot of family. A lot of love. Some loss and some closure. This book truly has all the feels.

1: Absolutely no! That would ruin a book for me.
2: I always learn something in books. Even if it's just a word that I forgot about. Things that are in new towns or cities. There is always something to learn.

I saved the last 20 minutes of this book to finish today. I like to write my reviews while a book is fresh on my mind. This one is great. OVER THE FALLS by Rebecca Hodge

Thank you to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Bryn Collins's secluded and calm world is turned upside down by the arrival of her 14-year-old nephew, Josh. Josh's father is Bryn's former fiance Saywer who cheated on Bryn with her sister Del. Saywer died 12 years ago, and now Del has gone missing. Josh has come to Bryn to ask her to help him find his mom. (Cont. ⬇️)

CoffeeK8 This leads Bryn and Josh on a desperate cross-country seach for Del before some shady characters, who are also after Del, find her first.

This book was thrilling from start to finish and the ending was completely unexpected. I loved the relationship between Bryn and Josh and how they slowly developed trust in each other.
