Eleven months had not been long enough to prepare Sophie Lawson for the sight of him . . . After her mother was bedridden and her father bailed on the family, Sophie became a second mother to her twin brother, Seth, and younger sister, Jenna. Sophie supported her siblings through their college years, putting aside her own dream of opening a book shop in Pipers Covethe quaint North Carolina beach town they frequented as children. But now its finally time for Sophie to follow her own pursuits. Seth just got a new job, the family house is sold, and Jenna is set to marry her college beau in Pipers Cove. But the destination wedding reunites Sophie with best man Aiden Maddox, her high school sweetheart who left her without a backward glance to run an extreme sporting business in Florida. Much to Sophies chagrin, seeing Aiden again resurrects familiar feelingswhich she promptly tries to bury in the tumult of the day. As soon as the wedding crowd fades, Sophie turns her focus back to establishing her beloved bookstore. But then an advancing hurricane strands Aiden in Pipers Cove and with the hotels booked to capacity he asks Sophie to put him up until the storm passes. As the two ride out the weather, old feelings rise to the surface. But can Sophie trust Aiden to stick around? And does daredevil Aiden have the courage to risk his heart?

I ended up really liking this book but the MC really did get on my nerves. I find that I get very angry at people who allow others to take advantage of them. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

While it wasn't very original, it was still really entertaining. I absolutely loved it and thought it was so cute. Once I started it, I felt like I couldn't stop. I almost stayed up late last night to finish it, but I forced myself to put it down.

Love a story about a bookstore, but this was a miss for me. Syrupy, too Christian … not my cup of tea.

A sweet romance that makes one want to open your own bookshop by the sea. 😊 It was a bit slow moving for me but that may be because I read a lot of PNR. However I did like how it deals with real issues in a relationship. I would recommend to those who enjoy more clean romance books.

#contemporaryromance
I loved being in Piper's Cove, NC and never wanted to leave. Denise Hunter always brings her readers delightful, heart-tugging, deliciously romantic, thoroughly redemptive stories and this book is no exception. Aiden and Sophie are wonderful, even with their insecurities. Sophie's newly opened bookshop and her love for books set a great backdrop to the story.
I received the book via NetGalley and opinions are solely my own.

I can easy dive in and be at home amoung Denise's characters and the same can be said about this new contemporary, stand alone title. When a hurricane strands Aiden in Piper‘s Cove after attending a wedding, he finds hotels booked to capacity and has to ask Sophie to put him up until the storm passes. As the two ride out the weather, old feelings rise to the surface. The delay also leaves Sophie with mere days to get her bookshop up and running.

Hunter‘s books are always feel-good nuggets that I consistently enjoy. Sophie is a 25 yo who is excited to open her own bookstore after having delayed her dreams for 7 years while she gave up college to take care of her ill mother after her father leaves. She is a bit of a control freak as she has basically parented her siblings and still does even though they are adults. Aiden was her high school sweetheart who broke her heart when he moved 🔻

robinb away to take a dream job after high school (not realizing all of Sophie‘s woes at home). They are thrown back together 7 years later and both realize that they still have unresolved feelings for the other. But first they have to work on issues in their own lives. It‘s a sweet story. 😊 4/5⭐️ 3y
