Intriguing story and great worldbuilding. I enjoyed the writing and narrative style very much.
The slow burn romance is not at the center of the story, rather the development of the characters but it was delightful to watch them coming closer.
Not only the main characters but also the side characters had sufficient depth and complexity.
Looking forward to the next books.

It was cute how Tisaanah tried to learn another language, and she had really rough past. It was almost impossible not to feel for her. Max was so fun with his grumpiness and the chemistry between Tisanaah & Max was great!

This was a slow book! It took forever before something started to happen and then suddenly everything happens. It was hard to follow because pacing changed so suddenly.

"Men want power because it makes them feel good. Women want power because it lets us do things."

This was excellent!! Great story, great characters. I'm feeling lucky to have come across it. I put it off because I didn't like the cover at all, but its not an accurate representation of all the goodness in this first of a series. Thankful (once again) for a great recommendation from a booktok Facebook group.

If you‘re a fan of Sarah J Maas you will probably like this high fantasy romance series as well. Fast paced with a lively collection of characters this chunkster is book 1 in a completed trilogy.
