Too boring, too much canon divergence. Also plainly stupid parts. Why would Spock have to give a speech he would not believe in? And why would he have to leave Starfleet just because Vulcan leaves the Federation? Even back at that time people could still be citizens of one country and work in a completely different region of the earth, even during struggles between the two countries. If you write about Vulcans, write logically!

Why does everyone love this book? Iā€m only on page 60 and already thinking about quitting. It‘s so out of character and not even canon compliant. š¢

TheBookDream I remember liking it, but it being kinda boring at parts. Also, for a lot of people Diane Duane IS canon, especially her series about the Romulans (which I haven't read) so I'm sure that's a factor. 6y

Taayasbooks @TheBookDream I quit. I just could not stand it. It was partly boring and partly just so far from the showā€s canon that it hurt. I think I once read a good novel of hers but this is not among those I would want to be canon. 6y

This is a small section of a long shelf ā€” all my Star Trek books. Not a single one of which I've read. Doesn't make sense. It's like I have them just to prove my loyalty. Got them all in bulk, years ago. Could never throw them away. But my tbr pile will never get low enough that I finally have time for these. Meaning? I'm just keeping them locked up, for ... vanity? nostalgia? Something like that. Anybody else have a shelf or two like this?

Zelma I used to have a shelf of classics I never got around to. But now I rotate my shelves so often that nothing sits unread. It either gets read within a few years or it's donated. 8y

LauraBrook Probably at least 15% of my library is like this and I'm nearing 3,000 books, so... Yeah. But I'm keeping them still! 8y

Eyelit I tend to go through genre phases, so I have quite a few shelves of books I've had for years just waiting for that phase to come around again. 8y

megt I definitely do the same thing. There are some sections of my bookshelves with stuff I know I'll probably never read. I've been able to weed some of it out, but some are going to be lifers. 8y

AlanBaxter I have the same areas of my shelves, including a Star Trek section and a Star Wars section. I read some of the Star Wars ones in my teens. 8y
