True confessions: I read this book about Brazil a day early. I was anxious to get a start on #foodandlit, it was short and I needed an audiobook for crafting time. This is a very very broad overview of the political history of Brazil—some very similar to the USA (ie, slavery), and dissimilar (ie, the end of slavery without a civil war—but probably a too slow demise of the evil institution for the slaves themselves; the rise of dictators). ⬇️

Texreader I‘d like to find a similar book with more about the culture, or cultural history, of Brazil. I‘ll keep looking. @Butterfinger #crushtherush #readyourway #wintergames #merryreaders #dashingdecember #ChristmasSpirit #shutdownreadathon @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @TheSpineView @Clwojick @andrew65 (edited) 3y
Butterfinger I really like the Cultures Around the World books I've been reading for Europe. 130 page reference books with the photos. I learned how to read with my daddy's encyclopedias. I think it was @ChasingOm who found travel books for kindle unlimited. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think I'll be casually joining in on #foodandlit this year. If I can find something of interest to read and/or cook for each country, I'll be playing along. 3y

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Thanks @Butterfinger I'm a picky eater & lackluster cook, so the food might be trickier than finding a book or two. 😁 3y
Butterfinger @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I will tag you on some posts. @Texreader started a pinterest board that may help. 3y
