The premise of this book was interesting. A woman with Alzheimer‘s is accused/suspected of killing her best friend. The story is told from her point-of-view, so you can see her mental decline. The plot twist at the end was underwhelming. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I like this book, but I don‘t love it.

I Found You, which I just finished, dealt with memory loss due to trauma. This book deal with memory issues due to dementia. It might make for an interesting pairing. I think this might be an emotional read. I have seen several loved ones suffer from dementia.

This had been in my audio tbr for a long time, so I finally started it last night. It's told from the pov of a retired doctor with Alzheimer's disease, a suspect in the murder of her bff down the street. I'm completely riveted, but also sad. On the weekends I work at the bookstore, but during the week I work private health care, and most of my clients have had or have dementia. Continued in comments.

MidnightBookGirl I've never known 2 clients to have the exact same symptoms when it comes to cognitive impairment, but it frustrates me when people respond with anger, sarcasm or frustration when dealing with an Alzheimer's patient- the scene I just listened to with the cops trying to interview Jennifer was infuriating. I get that families struggle with dealing with their loved one- lots of history can make dementia behaviors seem personal. Continued. 5y
MidnightBookGirl So if you're a caregiver and you ever need a sympathetic ear, I'm here for you! 5y
Reecaspieces Very well said. My grandmother had dementia. It is so hard and it is frustrating for the family. But respect and kindness goes a long way. 5y
MidnightBookGirl @Reecaspieces ❤ I hope to see more medical advances in the future, better medicine, a cure, and definitely more compassion. 5y

This was such a compelling, painful read. Elegant, raw and completely affecting.

Mehso-so

I liked being in the mind of someone with Alzheimer‘s but not necessarily the whole murder thing...that made the book just ok for me.

Loved this one and it's a quick read since it's written in conversational style. I sunk into the frenzied mind of a prominent physician who is losing everything due to dementia. The family and back story (which is a murder) unwinds as you read. I loved it! It's a great first novel for the author too.

Breezing through Turn of Mind. It is a trip and at times makes me feel like I am inside the mind of the main character. I won Under The Influence in a Litsy giveaway. I was so excited! It's my next up.

Anyone reading this presently? I ordered it from the library after I read a great review from an author. I'm excited to read it...sounds like the perfect blend of suspense and medical facts...

cathysaid And it's a #debutnovel which also intrigues me. Let us know what you think when you read it! 7y

A startling portrait of a disintegrating mind clinging to bits of reality through anger, frustration, shame, and unspeakable loss, Turn of Mind is a remarkable debut that examines the deception and frailty of memory and how it defines our very existence.

Penny_LiteraryHoarders I have this one - bought ages and ages ago - on Audible too! 8y
