A Catered Book Club Murder
A Catered Book Club Murder | Isis Crawford
2 posts | 2 read
Sisters Bernie and Libby Simmons are used to catering lip-smacking treats to an artsy group of book loversuntil fiction spills into reality . . . If anything can be said about endearingly predictable Margo Hemsley, its that she always serves elaborate desserts at her mystery book club meetings. Thats why everyone fears the worst after she doesnt pick up her order from Bernie and Libby and skips out on the monthly gathering. The Simmons sisters cant imagine their acquaintance vanishing like a character from one of her favorite novels, at least not willingly. When the search ends with the discovery of a dead body, Bernie and Libby agree to help the nine remaining book club members prove their friend was murdered. But a speed read through Margos background reveals there was more to the victim than harmless hobbies and frumpy cardigans would suggest. As the sleuthing sisters unearth scandalous secrets about the book club members, theyll have to determine who was connected to Margos shady dealingsand who sent her to an early grave . . .

Mehso-so

Found this on my hotel room the other day, so of course I read it. I usually enjoy cozy mysteries, but this was not the first in the series and I think the author assumed we knew a lot more than we did. Seemed a bit silly. (Quicksand?)

Pickpick

I came into this complete blind, but I guess this is quite a long series. I had some mixed feelings about this book; I mostly enjoyed it, but it didn‘t really grab me and make me want to devour it. Also, Bernie‘s tendency to constantly b&e was seriously annoying. I really enjoyed the side characters though! Also, maybe they‘re featured more in other books, but the two boyfriends were pretty much just a side note?
