Wynd #1
Wynd #1 | James Tynion IV
4 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
Wynd lives a quiet life in Pipetown -- working at the local tavern, out of sight in the secret rooms beneath the floorboards, often stealing away to catch glimpses of the son of the castles groundskeeper as he works. But Wynd also has a secret... magical blood betrayed by his pointed ears, forbidden within the city limits. His shaggy hair has obscured them for most of his life, but now that Wynd is a teenager they are growing too unwieldy to hide. Joined by his best friend Oakley and Thorn, the groundskeepers son, Wynds strange dreams and an encounter with the city guard send him on the most dangerous adventure he could imagine, where Wynd will discover the magic in the world around him and, most importantly, the magic within himself. The GLAAD Award-winning team of writer James Tynion IV (Batman, The Woods) and artist Michael Dialynas (The Woods) present a new young adult fantasy series about learning to spread your wings no matter the dangers that life puts in your way.

First #bookspin list of 2024! This year I‘m going to keep unread titles from each month on the list to carry over to the following month, so hopefully I‘ll get to all of them before the end of the year. New strategies to #readmyowndamnbooks 😆😁📚. I‘ve had some of these for years.

AmyG I am going to try to so the same. Good luck! 🤣 4mo

In Esseriel magic is outlawed so Wynd has been hiding his pointed ears for years. One day he is discovered and sets out on a journey with the help of friends to find a safe place. Another great graphic novel. I'll definitely read the next in the series.

Wynd is a young boy living a quaint life in the last fully human civilization, Pipetown, protected from the dangerous magical beasts outside its walls. However, there‘s one problem, he isn‘t human, and would surely be killed if anyone found out. During a plot to allow the magical “weirdbloods” to live safely in Pipetown, Wynd‘s identity is exposed, forcing him to leave Pipetown, and abandon everything he‘s been taught about the world around him.

CharlotteCormier (continued) And in order to survive, he now has to come to terms with who he is, and re-evaluate how he wants to live his life.

If you like books that imbue that classic fantasy wonder then definitely pick up this book. Truth be told, the only reason I first bought it was because of the cover art, which also led me to the assumption that it was aimed at younger audiences. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the book wasn‘t just a cute kid‘s

CharlotteCormier (continued) Wynd is a graphic novel, which makes the POV a bit different than what you would find in a book. The POV used is a third person omniscient point of view, as the story is told from multiple characters' perspectives and we can see the inner thoughts of the characters. 2y
MissYaremcio Nicely done Char! Is it a book I should add to my list? 6/6 2y

Not a bad start. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next. This issue established a cast of interesting characters and the human city they live In where magic is seen as dangerous and Other.
I also cracked up when I turned the page and found out what Wynd was spying on with that telescope. #comic #magic

LazyOwl This is a great comic series, I need to catch up on this as I've only read the first few issues 3y
Kenyazero @LazyOwl I‘m really looking forward to reading the rest of it! 3y
