I blew through this recently concluded DC alternate universe story where a bio/tech virus infects Earth. Lots of world and universe hopping, ridiculous power combinations, and a hell of a lot of fun! I'm not super familiar with the New Gods, but there was enough variety that the occasional obscure character didn't make the story any less accessible. #scarathlon

This spinoff from the original DCeased, starring villains and antiheroes, better fits Taylor's sensibilities, but it still suffers from the Flippancy Problem: it feels arbitrary which characters live and which die. Mostert's art is pretty good as long as you don't look too closely at the faces. There are some funny lines, but Taylor strains a little too hard for the joke. The ending is very sweet.

It's a huge hit but I found DCeased underwhelming. It's the mirror image of his early Injustice: while Injustice was about totalitarianism, DCeased is about anarchy. You might enjoy it if you want to watch most of DC's heroes get killed in rapid succession. The idea of a techno-organic virus spreading through both the internet and bodily contact is interesting, but not really developed. The pace is breakneck.

Usually I'd avoid a story like this, since I find zombies as tedious as vampires. However, I do love a good villains turned heroes trope. The Anti-Life virus has turned most people (including superheroes) into bloodthirsty monsters. Deathstroke and Red Hood lead a gang of villains trying to survive the horde. The story is intense and the artwork is gorgeous. 4 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

BkClubCare It is a busy book cover. 3y

Typically not much of a DC reader, DC's Black Label & Hill House Comics have provided several of the best graphic novels I have read over the past few months: gems like Joe Hill's “Basketful of Heads,“ Carmen Maria Machado's “The Low Low Woods“ & most recently Stjepan Šejić's “Harleen.“ The tagged book is in Black Label, an imprint featuring iconic characters with mature content. This is basically a standard zombie story. Nothing too special.👇

vivastory The only thing that stood out to me was the commitment to a bleak vision, a lively cameo by Constantine & the variant covers that paid homage to contemporary classic horror films. 3y

This is one of my picks for #CoverOfTheWeek. I don't even read this series but when I saw this variant cover by Francesco Mattina solicited I had to order it.

Wonder Woman as a zombie! Yes please 👌

LazyOwl This has me intrigued, I don't normally read DC, I'm more of an Image fan, but this has me interested. 4y
