A Florida college town is rocked by a string of death- by- alligator of frat boys who have a history of hurting women and getting away with it. It soon becomes apparent that a serial killer is luring these men to their deaths. We follow a group of dormmates who suspect one of their friends is the killer and their adjustments to what they recognize is a temporary world where the women aren't (as) afraid but the men realize they have cause to be. ⬇️

bookandbedandtea ⬆️ This book isn't afraid to tackle difficult subjects. It occasionally veers away from storytelling mode to lecture about rape culture and social contracts and, while I agree with the points made, there wasn't much nuance. 2y

Something always draws me to vigilante stories, especially when the one administering justice is a woman. Ever since The Butterfly Garden I‘ve been a fan of Hutchinson‘s, and this one delivered. You‘ll root for the murderer while agreeing that their victims deserve what‘s coming. There is a lovely twist in that it‘s impossible to know who the vigilante is until the end. My only complaint is that the man hating is a bit heavy-handed.

Another one I just could not get into. I only made it 6% & maybe just wasn‘t in the mood for it, but I felt like it was trying too hard. Felt forced. The dorm suite just perfectly matched 5 various girls together & they all get along - good girl, a bad girl, a black girl, a girl w/a hijab, and (likely) one of them is offing sexual assaulting guys. A little too perfect, trying too hard to hit all the important parts of #metoo.

Took advantage for the first time of the Amazon Prime First Pick thing for books, and I saw this one.
Hoo boy...
I really like this book, really interesting thread that spins throughout the book, with little hints about the killer, by not only seeing through their eyes at certain points, but it bleeds into the other sections after a while, but I'll admit it wrong footed me right up until the end.
that and Alligators :p

Mehso-so

At a university in Gainesville, a male student‘s remains are found in alligator infested waters. At first this seems like an accident, but soon another body is found and both victims were known for assaulting women.

The premise is entertaining enough but the presentation could have been executed a bit better. At the beginning, I found myself confused with the introduction of so many characters and was frustrated trying to follow the dialogue.

I‘m reading this arc and it‘s driving me a little crazy. The story is mainly told in one person‘s perspective but when the MC is talking to her roommates, the author uses “she” a lot to show who is talking no matter if it‘s the MC or another character. Half the time I‘m trying to figure out who is actually speaking. So frustrating. *end rant*

I loved the Butterfly Garden, so I‘m excited to get this ARC. This is a stand alone and not part of the Butterfly series. It‘s also set in Gainesville, FL which is not too far from me

Mirazzles I also loved “The Butterfly Garden.” I haven‘t read the others but I hope you enjoy this one! 🙂 4y
