I absolutely loved the atmosphere of Baton Noir, the Louisiana vibes with the bayou and culture was fantastically written. The paranormal elements of witches and dark magic was wondrous, I loved the plot and the constant mystery, the pace was perfectly balanced between suspense and revelation. I liked the characters, especially the MC Jude, her passion for playing the trumpet was portrayed well + I loved all the Legba's too! Overall a good book!

Bk4 in my #libraryhaul is another voodoo/magical realism story set in a mythical town called Baton Noir. Jude Lomax is invited to play her trumpet at the funeral of the cajou Queen, Ivory Monette. But she finds herself possessed by the dead queens vengeful spirit, and it won‘t stop till it finds the person responsible for its death. To be rid of it, she‘s forced to follow clues into the underbelly of the Black Bayou & the vampires jazz clubs.
