1️⃣Introvert
2️⃣Sleep
3️⃣Depends on what else I‘m doing
4️⃣Neither
5️⃣Try Comics or rereading old favorites, or if I‘m struggling with a particular book, I‘ll try a different format (audio instead of print), or just walk away from reading for a bit and do other hobbies (crochet or quilt). Play with the dog or binge Netflix. Try not to worry too much and make the slump worse.

dsfisher I can attest to 4️⃣ 😂😂😂 6y

📚 I‘m an ambivert, switching depending on my mood.
📚 Do more. I‘m not a heavy sleeper unless I‘m sick.
📚 Either, but movies when Mr. B is around.
📚 Cook or bake
📚 Try short stories, poetry, graphic novels. Go to the gym, the pool, or somewhere to distract yourself. Meet friends for coffee or ice cream. ❤️

LeeRHarry Ooh I like the term ambivert, that‘s me too 😊 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @LeeRHarry I wish I could remember where I first heard that term, but I love it too. 6y

1. Introvert
2. Definitely do more! 👜🚗🗺 There is so much out there I want to experience.
3. A movie I guess, since I haven‘t listened to an audiobook. I‘ve only listened to children audiobooks.
4. Both really. . .it depends on my mood. If I am cooking than my husband will clean. 🍔🌮🥗 And vice versa; thanks honey!
5. Not sure. I‘m battling it right now too. My book “Dark Places” is kind of slow at the moment.

AJones Yet, I really don‘t want to abandon it.

1. Introvert with a extroverted job. Now retired so it‘s less draining. All those years of “performing” were hard. 2. 💤 sleep please. 3. Movie! I have just recently accepted audiobooks as a possibility. 4. Ha! If forced, clean. Cooking? Now semi-retired. 4. I go back to a well loved book every time. I skim, find favorite parts, highlight, or just read. Usually helps. When my dad died, I stopped reading for three years. It helped me.

1. Introvert
2. Sleep more (I‘m already in 🛏)
3. Movie
4. Cook (bake)
5. I start as many books as it takes to grab me. I give them 50 pages; if I‘m not into it, I put it aside and try another until one clicks.
I hope your slump doesn‘t last long.

Pickpick

The 1963 thesis of Amiri Baraka (Leroi Jones) is that the Blues (and by extension, Jazz and its iterations) could only come from the American Black context - From the early days of call & response in the fields as slaves through the era of Jim Crow (The Blues) and beyond (Jazz.) It's a little "screedlicious" at times; but that doesn't mean he's wrong.

shawnmooney Screelicious? Google has no definitions - can you enlighten me? 7y
youngreadrshelf I would also like to know what that means. 7y
Dogearedcopy @shawnmooney @youngreadrshelf Sorry, that was supposed to be "screedlicious" (corrected): There were times that the writing felt tinged with a race-righteous anger. It wasn't a full blown rant or diatribe about Black identity in the US; but you could feel the undercurrent, and there a couple of times I needed to break from reading as it was a little wearing. 7y
