The Titanic Sisters
The Titanic Sisters: A sweeping and heartfelt novel of the Titanic, and its impact on one family in Ireland and America | Patricia Falvey
11 posts | 10 read | 6 to read
To follow her dreams, she must sacrifice everything... Sisters Nora and Delia have been given the chance of a lifetime - to escape their poor Irish farm and travel on the Titanic to a new life in America. Nora is to become a treasured governess for a rich family, while Delia has only a lowly maid's position. But when disaster strikes, and Nora dies, a small misunderstanding leads to Delia taking Nora's place as governess. As Delia grows closer to her charge, and the girl's father, will she be able to reveal the truth to find a chance at happiness? And what will happen when she finds out that Nora is actually alive, and coming to take what is rightfully hers...?

I'm hesitant to give my first read of the year 5 stars, but it's what The Titanic Sisters deserves. I'm not a big fan of historical fiction and I'm unsure why, but I loved every aspect of this adventure. The characters, world-building, writing and POV transitions were executed superbly. The author did such a good job at making the story come to life. Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways. This is a heartfelt and honest review.

Sisters Delia and Nora hate each other so their parents have managed to separate them by booking them passage to New York on the Titanic, leaving their dull lives in Ireland far behind them to seek their fortune in the USA.
During the turmoil of the sinking the sisters are separated and Delia thinks Nora died.
Confused and alone Delia takes up Norma's post as governess to the daughter of a man called Aidan O'Hanlon.
Nora isn't dead though...

The Titanic sisters is an epic story of two sisters and their journey aboard the ill dates ship and what happens after.
Delia and Nora are not at all close but when given the opportunity to travel to America to start new lives on jobs aboard the Titanic they jump at the chance and when the tragedy happens though both sisters survive they both have to start all over again.
And this causes serious complications for them both...

My sister recommended this one to me and it didn't disappoint.
This is the wonderful story of two sisters, Nora and Delia who board the Titanic for a better life.
Durong the disaster they get separated and Delia believing Nora dead takes over her new life by taking employment as governess to a girl called Lily.
But Nora isn't dead so what will happen to Delia's new happy situation especially as she seems to be falling for her employer Aidan.

Good. Interesting characters and story even though it seemed a bit rushed at the end. Thank you #Readersfirst for the free copy

I am drawn to stories about the Titanic and was looking forward to reading this book. It was beautifully written and I liked the way it was narrated by the two sisters alternately. I did find it quite slow and a little dull, though. I didn‘t particularly like any of the characters and I don‘t think enough of the story was set on the Titanic itself. Some parts seemed contrived and predictable. Nevertheless, it‘s an easy, pleasant and gentle read.
