On her way to Grandmas house, Little Red Riding Hood meets a wolf. Now, that might scare some little girlsbut not this little girl! She knows just what the wolf is up to, and shes not going to let him get away with it. In this updated fairy tale with a mischievous twist, talented newcomer Bethan Woollvin uses sly humor, striking visuals, and a dark irreverence to turn a familiar tale on its head.

There have been many retellings of Little Red Riding Hood. This one has a bit different ending, but overall it‘s not spectacular. There is nothing but great artwork to differentiate it from the original.

Lindy You‘re a tough critic. I agree that the art is outstanding and I also love the badass attitude of the little girl. 3y
LibrarianRyan @Lindy I know, and I feel mean, but I have read so many retellings of this story that it takes something amazing to make it stand out. But I agree I do love her badassery. 3y

If I were a patch girl, I‘d be all over this. 🙌🏻

Children‘s book author/illustrator Beth Woollvin made them, & they‘re for sale in her Etsy shop.

Happy (belated) International Women‘s Day!

P.S. If you‘re wondering what my favorite GRLPWR book is (it‘s okay; I know what you wonder about), it‘s “Shrill” by Lindy West.

ohyeahthatgirl Aw Shrill was the book I pushed on the most customers when I was a bookseller. 6y
monalyisha @ohyeahthatgirl Hmmm... I think my most-recommended book, as a bookseller, was probably “Where‘d You Go, Bernadette?” 6y
ReadingRover I loooove her books! They‘re so cute. I have to check this out! 6y

Pickpick

Retelling of Red Riding Hood that sticks pretty close to its dark origins; the subversive part is the quick-witted badass little girl taking charge of her own destiny rather than relying on a woodcutter. Striking #picturebook illustrations in black, white and red.

LeahBergen Beautiful illustrations! 7y
Lindy @LeahBergen Yes, aren't they great? 7y
Lacythebookworm That looks and sounds great! 🙌😊 7y

Before long, she met a wolf.
"Where are you going?" he growled.
Which might have scared some little girls.
But not this little girl.

LaurenAsh Yes! Loved this one. 7y

Lucky for young readers everywhere, this book is no ordinary retelling. The author's approach is fresh, witty, and wildly entertaining
