Hadassah, Queen Esther of Persia
Hadassah, Queen Esther of Persia | Diana Wallis Taylor
2 posts | 3 read | 10 to read
One of the great heroines of the Old Testament, Hadassah was a beautiful, graceful young woman who put her faith in God and her guardian, her cousin Mordecai. She dreams of marrying Shamir, a tall, handsome, studious young man who is the rabbi's son. Her heart beats faster when she hears the sound of his deep voice as he reads the Torah. And she hopes that he will visit Mordecai soon to present a betrothal request. Then, an upheaval in King Xerxes's palace changes everything. Queen Vashti has been banished and an edict goes out for all qualified young virgins throughout the empire to be taken to the palace as he searches for a new queen. Fear strikes in the hearts of many, including Mordecai, as he realizes Hadassah will be taken. To hide her identity as a Jew, he tells her to go by the name of Esther. Since he works as a record-keeper at the king's gates, he can keep tabs on how she is doing. Hadassah: Queen Esther of Persia imagines what life was like for the woman who saved her people--and perhaps found love in the process.

We have truly missed our family field trips. Yesterday, we visited 3 covered bridges. We spent about 12 hours away from home. That also gave me time to start a new book. I've missed Diana's writing style for Biblical Fiction. We made several detours due to incredible flooding. I've never seen the tourist destination of Frankenmuth so desolate. Times are scary but I'm thankful we found a way to learn & enjoy an adventure.

CrowCAH Are you talking of Frankenmuth, Michigan? I love that place; go at least once a year! I bet it would be desolate in this time of shit down. 4y
smilingshelves Hey, I recognize that Frankenmuth bridge! We live about half an hour from there, and we've driven through it several times recently (mostly to get food from the best Italian restaurant!). It is so strange to see it so empty! 4y
Princess-Kingofkings @smilingshelves @CrowCAH I think the real education for me was considering how will Michigan recover from the incredible flooding and desolation from virus lockdown that I observed yesterday!?!? 4y
CrowCAH @Princess-Kingofkings very true. It‘s one thing after another. The flooded pictures and video are shocking! 4y
smilingshelves @Princess-Kingofkings For sure. These were already incredibly difficult times, and now the flooding on top of everything. Time for some serious prayer! 4y
