It‘s not been a great week/weekend, and since I‘m still awake at 4 am, I figured it was ok to open my #basicwitchswap package. I‘m overwhelmed @Insightsintobooks It‘s all so eclectic and fun and I love everything. I almost bought the Samhain Oracle cards for myself and I will be drinking coffee out of that mug when I start work in 3 hours. I feel spoiled. Thank you so much. This book is chock-full of lore and ritual! As the subtitle promises, much of the lore is Celtic. Other lore seems to be of the author‘s creation, though perhaps with a folkloric basis. I made note of quite a number of the rituals. It‘s a good book but not great; I felt it was a bit shallow in some places, and it could use editing on multiple levels (organization and spelling), which leaves me disappointed in the publisher.

Fun that this book describes this belief of spirits and the dead being unable to cross running water, while another book I‘m reading at the same time (Terciel & Elinor) uses it literally in the magic system—dead spirits and creatures cannot cross running water and, in fact, it can bring them further into death.
