Oh dear. I have no doubt I am coming late to the party on this one but recovering from a minor medical thing and cruising around on the iPad looking at all things books and just discovered Juniper Books. This could be a problem considering all the books I want equal a California home mortgage 😉. #juniperbooks

Mdargusch It‘s that free shipping piece. If you don‘t spend $150 then the shipping is so expensive. 6y

#TBRtemptation post 2! Recently released. Long-listed for the Man Booker Prize. It's described as the Oliver Twist of 1970s Africa. Moses lives at an orphanage run by a malicious stooge. He's terrorized by a pair of twins. He eventually escapes the orphanage with him and they start a make-shift gang surviving on petty theft. Funny, moving, & ultimately tragic in the repressive world of the Congo. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

The last book that I've read and is set in #Africa was Black Moses. Story is set in Republic of the Congo or Congo-Brazzaville. In the story we follow the life of orphan Moses - through political circumstances in the country.

Pickpick

An intriguing book that mixes; political satire, political explanation, and a brilliant coming of age narrative. At once, Heartbreaking and hilariously funny #imbooker2017

Mehso-so

We follow the life of Moses in an orphanage and later as a member of the gang in the city and how political changes in the Congo affect his life. The author exposes many problems, he doesn't deal with them critical - but as an everyday reality, seasoned with irony. Some passages are painfully beautiful, but I didn't feel the book as a whole, especially the third part seems very weak and unconvincing. But - the last part is simply brilliant.
