The 9th Girl
The 9th Girl | Tami Hoag
The worst evils lie closest to home in Tami Hoag's chilling crime novel. As Detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska stand over the brutally disfigured remains of an adolescent girl in the early hours of New Year's Day, they suspect they've stumbled across the ninth victim of the notorious Doc Holiday. A horribly sadistic killer who strikes during the holidays. But with the girl's identity obscured by her injuries, they have little to go on. Until Liska discovers that one of her son's friends - Gray - is missing... And it seems that everyone who knew Gray is telling lies. Liska and Kovac are in a race against time to discover whether this is indeed the ninth girl, or an entirely different nightmare altogether...

Resting with Zoë, who had to get puppy shots today. So excited to have Mishka nearby. She is terrified of dogs, and this is the closest she‘s been to her new sister since we brought her home.

This one is an audio read for me and it starts out with a murder on New Years Eve. #AuldLangReads #SetOnNewYearsEve

A teenage poet is murdered. Is she the 9th victim of a serial killer or did her murder hit a little closer to home?

After watching Netflix‘s limited series “Unbelievable”, I was craving a murder mystery. This book hit the spot! Reminiscent of Law & Order‘s SVU, the book centers on the murder of Zombie Doe 🧟‍♀️ , this girl so mutilated, they don‘t know how else to describe her. There‘s been 8 murders in the last year, all on holidays. Zombie Doe shows up on New Years Eve, they‘re trying to find the connections and the identity of the girl. SO GOOD 😊

Although the ending left me shocked, the middle 1/4 of the novel was slow. It felt like I was just “waiting” for something to happen, but it was taking too long to get there. I felt some portions could have been condensed, as it felt repeated. Overall, the storyline kept me wanting to read until the end.

Any Tami Hoag fans out there? I picked this book up from a #littlefreelibrary yesterday. Now I see it's the 4th book in a series. Looking for advice on whether I can read it without any knowledge of the previous 3 books. I generally do not like to jump into a series midway, although I know sometimes it doesn't really matter. Any input would be grand! 🤔

JoScho I don‘t remember but it is a great series. 6y

I hadn't read a Tami Hoag in a long time. I needed a New Years tag for a book challenge. This book takes place during New Year's so I picked it up. Glad I did. Will need to add some more Hoags to my TBR pile. If you like murder mysteries in the John Sandford, Patterson, Stuart Woods vein, you will enjoy this book.

Saw this one on my bookstore trip the other day. After reading the synopsis, it's probably too much of a trigger for me to actually read. Injuring and capturing adolescents and teens is too much for me, and I can take a lot. Nevertheless, it's a good match for #NovemberbytheNumbers today. #9
