Another dish I've found in a book: in one of the stories they have salads with pears and blue cheese. A perfect start into autmn!

I've also noted down two other dishes to mayve try another time: omelette with potatoes and spice cake.

It's quite fun to share foods with book characters 😁🍽️

Andrea Barrett has a deep skill for writing stories that make science and history even more enjoyable than I already think they are 😄

It's a wonderful collection that educates and evokes feelings at the same time. Especially Ship Fever shows us that history still affects us. But Barrett also talks about many other topics, her interests are widely spread, of which her books only benefit.

Beautiful, poignant stories of humanity and trying to master our understanding of the natural world. Only one story ("The Marburg Sisters") fell flat for me. The titular story is gutting and gorgeous. Finished volume by firelight; I don't think that influenced my feelings too much!
