Illusionarium
Illusionarium | Heather Dixon

What if the world holds more dangers and more wonders than we have ever known? And what if there is more than one world? From Heather Dixon, author of the acclaimed Entwined, comes a brilliantly conceived adventure that sweeps us from the inner workings of our souls to the far reaches of our imaginations. Jonathan is perfectly ordinary. But then as every good adventure begins the king swoops into port, and Jonathan and his father are enlisted to find the cure to a deadly plague. Jonathan discovers that he's a prodigy at working with a new chemical called fantillium, which creates shared hallucinations or illusions. And just like that, Jonathan is knocked off his path. Through richly developed parallel worlds, vivid action, a healthy dose of humor, and gorgeous writing, Heather Dixon spins a story that calls to mind The Night Circus and Pixar movies, but is wholly its own. Sharpeipup @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I thought the Illisionarium started strong but lost steam in the middle then struggled to finish it. 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Good to know, thank you! It is one that has lingered on a wish list for years but I've never pullled the trigger. Unless I find it used, I'll likely just let it go. 4y

I pick her up and slide the jacket off. I run my finger down her spine, feeling every little bump along the way. I admire her beauty, and then, I do the same to her three friends!

I'm a bit late on the #LetsGetNaked post, but I had to wait until I could pull the top three out of boxes since they were so pretty. @MelAnn This one's for you!

wanderinglynn ❤️ especially the Sherlock Holmes. 😍 6y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @wanderinglynn The best part is that it is one of those $8 B&N editions! 6y

Pickpick

My daughter picked it up for herself based on the cover but I went ahead and did a preread, since it was in YA section of the library. I ended up really enjoying it. The world building was quick but clear. The brother / sister relationship is sweet. I loved Jonathan's growth during the story and think my daughter and I can can talk about some real big kid stuff after she reads this. ❤️📚

Here we go. I'm in hangover mode from Crooked Kingdom (review to come), so let's hope this book helps. I did really enjoy Entwined when I read it, but that was a few years ago.

Honestly not sure I can point to why I couldn't finish it. I. Just. Couldn't. I hate stopping mid story (obsessive completionist, right here), but there are just those few that I can't bring myself to finish.

Finally finished! Talk about a twisted flip on a fictional reality. Kept me guessing until the end.
