First time in a book shop since mid-March. Masked up and popped into Sundog Books in Seaside, FL. The town was stupid crowded, but Sundog had a mask policy and limited the number of shoppers. It was a great experience! This was my 2nd time here and it‘s such a lovely shop. #shopindie

LeslieO What did you get?? 4y
marleed Oh cool, I want to go there, too! 4y
britt_brooke @marleed It‘s a beautiful shop! I was impressed with their current precautions (masks required, and occupancy limit), especially since the rest of Seaside was a crowded mess. We couldn‘t leave the town fast enough. But Sundog was great! 4y

marleed I‘m glad you had one good experience for the day. I‘ve essentially been in my own populated mask-wearing county county since March. I felt safe. Two weeks ago I travelled less than an hour and one county away. Unbelievable - no masks anywhere. We stopped at a quick trip for ice and not even the clerk wore a mask. I was totally freaked out and will quarantine until this Saturday. 4y
britt_brooke @marleed It‘s hard to know what to expect in different areas. We‘re staying in a cabin in a state park (Florida) and the experience here has been fantastic, but the super touristy areas nearby seem to generally act as if covid doesn‘t exist. Back home in TN, it‘s a mixed bag, but we are pretty comfortable in our usual bubble. It‘s a weird world right now. 4y
saresmoore It hadn‘t even occurred to me that there would be indoor public places with no mandatory mask policy! I am counting my blessings living in NC now. Very cute bookshop, though! 4y
britt_brooke @saresmoore So, in TN, ourgovernor punted the mask mandates to the counties. The county where we live had a mandate for 3 months but our POS governor has now taken that power away. Fortunately individual stores can do what they want and I can adjust my shopping accordingly. I think FL must be similar. I was happy to see Sundog requiring masks. 💚 We peace out of that town very quickly afterward. 4y
Scochrane26 I just got back from NC, & all the places there had policies like in Seaside. Seemed everyone was compliant, not acting like their rights have been taken away (like some in Ky). We didn‘t know if just Asheville or all of NC was like that, @saresmoore. Then, on the way home, we made the mistake of stopping to eat outside Knoxville. The restaurant was very loose with rules & they were yelling to gather people for birthdays. 🤦‍♀️ @britt_brooke 4y
britt_brooke @Scochrane26 Seaside as a whole was a complete disaster (very crowded, few masks even on restaurant workers), but the book shop was good. In Tennessee, things have pretty much returned to business as usual 🙄, but thankfully the places I patronize still have mask requirements. 4y
Sace Not a surprise that people who read are taking the pandemic seriously. Just sayin'. 4y
britt_brooke @Sace That‘s exactly what I said to my husband. Not surprising at all! 💚 4y
