The Three Questions
The Three Questions | Jon J Muth
9 posts | 15 read | 9 to read
With his stunning watercolors -- and text that resounds with universal truths, award-winning artist Jon J Muth has transformed a story by Tolstoy into a timeless fable for young readers. What is the best time to do things? Who is the most important one? What is the right thing to do? Nikolai knows that he wants to be the best person he can be, but often he is unsure if he is doing the right thing. So he goes to ask Leo, the wise turtle. When he arrives, the turtle is struggling to dig in his garden, and Nikolai rushes to help him. As he finishes work, a violent storm rolls in. Nikolai runs for Leo's cottage, but on his way, he hears cries for help from an injured panda. Nikolai brings her in from the cold, and then rushes back outside to rescue her baby too.

This is a fiction book. I love this book and believe everyone should have it in their class. This is a book to read aloud. Nikolai knows he wants to be a good person he just does not know how to be. He goes on a journey in search of answers. Nikolai comes across a turtle, heron, monkey and a dog who try to help him find his way.

When is the best time to do things? Who is the most important one? What is the right thing to do? A picture book that attempts to answer these questions, based on a Tolstoy story. It is sweet and thoughtful.

What a sweet book! Read this with my 10yo son this morning about a boy who is struggling with making the right choices & being kind. He seeks out wisdom from his fury friends & in turn gets the answers to his 3 questions. A sweet read with lovely watercolor illustrations & a great story to read at the start of the day.

Soubhiville Beautiful illustration! I might look for this for me 😊 5y

#WitchyReads Day 11: Adapted from Leo Tolstoy‘s story, this book raises #Three impt questions: When is the best time to do things? Who is the most important one? What is the right thing to do? Nikolai, a ruminative boy, wants to be a good person, and he acknowledges that it isn‘t always easy. He intuitively sensed that if he knew the answers to the above questions, he would be his best self at all times. My Review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-9kr

When is the best time to do things?
Who is the most important one?
What is the right thing to do?
Based on a story by Leo Tolstoy. I believe that was the selling point when I purchased this lovely book years ago. Thanks to #24in48 and #Mounttbr , I finally read it. It touched my heart. I know that I will revisit this tale many times.

Thndrstd This looks awesome. I love Muth‘s Zen books 6y
DivineDiana @Thndrstd It is! There are Zen books? 6y
Thndrstd Yes. Zen Shorts is the first. I think there‘s 3. Plus Hi, Koo (say it out loud) 6y
