knotmagick So jealous of your trip! I love trains but we don't have passenger trains in Ohio. :( 5y
Melli This would be a good tome to read Agatha Christie Murder on the orient express 😊 5y
EadieB @Melli That‘s what my husband said! 5y

EadieB @knotmagick I used to go thru Ohio on the train when we went to Wyoming to visit my grandparents. We would switch railroad companies in Chicago. My dad worked for Pennsylvania RR and we could ride free to Chicago and 1/2 price to Wyoming. Used to go every summer. You need to check out the railways in Ohio because I‘m sure we went thru there. 5y
knotmagick @EadieB There is only 1 passenger rail line in the state, and only 1 station where you can board. It runs along Lake Erie, which is about 2-2.5 hours away from me.

They've been talking about bringing back passenger rail between Cincinnati and Columbus, and I would be THRILLED if they did that. I go down to Cinci every year for a convention and it would be so nice to not drive.

MrBook Woooow! I haven‘t taken an Amtrak ride since I was a kid and went to Disney World. 5y
rretzler I‘ve always wanted to take Amtrak somewhere - I live in Ohio so it would be easy for me, but every time I check it out and see how long it takes, I am always daunted by the amount of time it takes to get to where I‘m going. I think I‘m probably too impatient to get to my destination for the train, though I would like the experience once in my life! Sounds like a really great time! 😁 Have fun! 5y
rretzler @knotmagick I live in Dublin. You must be pretty close to Columbus as well. 5y
knotmagick @rretzler I actually live right between Dublin and Upper Arlington. :D 5y
rretzler @knotmagick How cool! We should do a mini-meetup one of these days. @RavenLovelyReads also lives close! Are you on @Chelleo ‘s Ohio Littens List? 5y
knotmagick @rretzler I'm honestly not sure! I might have signed up when I first joined? 5y
EadieB @MrBook I‘m having a great time watching the scenery! 5y
EadieB @knotmagick Just googled and you are correct that Columbus is the largest area in the US without passenger service. They do need to bring that back! 5y
knotmagick @EadieB I'm going to SC next month, and I would much rather take a sleeper car than drive 10 hours. Alas! 5y
EadieB @knotmagick That would be a great idea. I guess you would have to drive to Cincinnati in order to make your connections. Maybe a bus could get you to Cincinnati. 5y
knotmagick @EadieB I would not want to leave my car at the Greyhound depot here. It is in a REALLY bad part of town.

We've already got the setup for the road trip, anyway. My mom is going with me, and we've picked out where we're going to stop for food and stuff, and try to hit some historical sites on the way down.

EadieB @knotmagick Sounds good! Have fun! 5y
SW-T Enjoy your trip! 😊 5y
EadieB @SW-T Thanks! 5y
Chelleo @knotmagick @rretzler Added to my OhioLittens List! 5y
rretzler @chelleo Thanks! I may need to start a Central Ohio one! 5y
RavenLovelyReads @rretzler and @knotmagick Yes! We should absolutely plan a meet up!!! BTW- Powell library is having their friends of the library sale this weekend....guess where I‘m spending Saturday morning? 😜 5y
knotmagick @RavenLovelyReads Sounds lovely! I would go, but I'm headed to Portland next week. I am desperately saving every penny. We're planning to hit up Backstory Books--it's a bookstore and also a yarn shop! (I am an avid knitter, so 2 hobbies in 1 place!) 5y
gradcat And yummy food, too! Really looks great...the train looks very spacious. Hope the weather is holding out for you down there! 😊 5y
EadieB @gradcat Sunny and nice today. Rain expected Saturday and Sunday. 5y
gradcat I knows-ugh! I hope it doesn‘t ruin your trip. 5y
EadieB @gradcat we leave 6:00 am on train Sunday morning so I think it‘s just thunderstorms. 5y
gradcat Oh, yay! Because you do want to be able to walk around in “The Big Easy.” When I lived there, we would have short bursts of showers almost daily in the summer, but they would clear up fairly quickly. Hope you‘re having fun!! 5y
EadieB @gradcat Having a great time! 5y
gradcat Yay! 💃🏼😊 5y
