Standing in Another Man's Grave
Standing in Another Man's Grave: A John Rebus Novel | Ian Rankin
5 posts | 10 read | 3 to read
REBUS IS BACK. The superb No.1 bestseller from 'Britain's best crime novelist' EXPRESS A series of seemingly random disappearances - stretching back to the millennium. A mother determined to find the truth. A retired cop desperate to get his old life back... It's been some time since Rebus was forced to retire, and he now works as a civilian in a cold-case unit. So when a long-dead case bursts back to life, he can't resist the opportunity to get his feet under the CID desk once more. But Rebus is as stubborn and anarchic as ever, and he quickly finds himself in deep with pretty much everyone, including DI Siobhan Clarke. All Rebus wants to do is uncover the truth. The big question is: can he be the man he once was and still stay on the right side of the law?

I have had this book certainly for more than a year. I finally got to it and really enjoyed reading about Rebus again. He is working in the cold case unit. I bought the next one and will get to it very soon! #crimebooks

Rebus is a ‘retired‘ detective working on cold cases, until he‘s alerted to a possible link with the live case of a missing 15-yr-old girl. His maverick methods don‘t go down so well with the current team.

I enjoyed this. The characters, the mystery, the music, even. I also appreciated the fact that it wasn‘t too icky. I may well go back to the beginning and read the others in order. Very glad to have picked this up for #TartanNoir #Booked2020.

Cinfhen A few people have mentioned they were excited to discover this series through the #Booked2020 challenge 🙌🏻💕 4y

2. I don‘t see why not! I probably wouldn‘t want to read the Be-Ro book from cover to cover, but most of mine have lots of stuff you wouldn‘t want to read if you were actually cooking.

Do you want to play (if you haven‘t already) @jenniferw88 @Velvetfur

For some reason I thought the series ended at 17 books, can‘t remember why. Well, lucky me, I have now several books about Rebus to read!

zsuzsanna_reads I think it's because Rankin said the series had finished! But then his new detective didn't really take and Rebus had to come out of retirement 😁 5y
zsuzsanna_reads Not that that's a bad thing, mind you 5y
Tove_Reads @zsuzsanna_reads So it wasn‘t just my brain then, it was actually meant to end there. Well, tomorrow I‘ll figure out if it was worth continuing the series. 5y
zsuzsanna_reads At least Rebus was only retired not dead. That made it easier for me to pick it up again. I am not thinking of Sherlock Holmes here, but won't name any names because of spoilers. 5y

#characters2017 #evilpersonified
I knew id get chance to use a photo i posted on twitter last year on my holidays without response. We went to Edinburgh and Tighnabruaich and in ed i resumed my ian rankin readings with the rebooted rebus. Anyway john rebus's nemesis is big Ger Cafferty a truly evil villain with whom rebus is in permanent battle but like that devil on his shoulder you wonder whether there is not some respect there
