The Merchant's Daughter
The Merchant's Daughter | Melanie Dickerson
5 posts | 20 read | 10 to read
An unthinkable danger. An unexpected choice. Annabel, once the daughter of a wealthy merchant, is trapped in indentured servitude to Lord Ranulf, a recluse who is rumored to be both terrifying and beastly. Her circumstances are made even worse by the proximity of Lord Ranulfs bailiffa revolting man who has made unwelcome advances on Annabel in the past. Believing that life in a nunnery is the best way to escape the escalation of the bailiffs vile behavior and to preserve the faith that sustains her, Annabel is surprised to discover a sense of security and joy in her encounters with Lord Ranulf. As Annabel struggles to confront her feelings, she is involved in a situation that could place Ranulf in grave danger. Ranulfs future, and possibly his heart, may rest in her hands, and Annabel must decide whether to follow the plans she has cherished or the calling God has placed on her heart.

Finished this one yesterday - a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Her family was nasty and wanted to make her marry Tom the Bailiff so they didn‘t have to do any work. She indentured herself to the “beast” character and discovered many ways the Lord was looking out for her. I loved it. Plan to read more. #13 #BookSpin #24 #BFC22 #FAIRYTALECHALLENGE #SERIES2022 #sharreadathon #KicktheSlump #Pantone2022 Poppyseed #WintersRespite #TheRoyalReadathon

LatrelWhite @Allylu I need to see what else she‘s written I‘ve read several of her books. I too enjoy them☺️ 2y
Allylu @LatrelWhite There are 11 books in her Haggenheim series. I know I didn't need to start another series, but oh well. They are all retellings of fairytales. I'm reading some of them for the #FairytaleChallenge. 2y

I enjoyed the first book in Melanie Dickerson‘s fairytale series. This one looks like it‘s beauty and the beast themed!

I really enjoyed this book! The retelling was different enough from the original fairy tale to make it an interesting read, and following along with the main character as she pursued her goals and developed as an individual, a woman, and a Christian was fun. If you're looking for a lighthearted read and enjoy occasional cheesy lines of old English romance, pick this one up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 stars to this Christian Beauty and the Beast retelling. It was sweet and definitely addictive! I couldn't put it down. I will say that, having now read two of Dickerson's retellings, I find her main characters to be too perfect and her plots a bit generic, but I can't help getting sucked in wondering when they'll finally admit to themselves and each other that they're in love. What can I say...? I'm a hopeless romantic cheeseball...😅
