5 posts | 3 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
Hailed by The New York Times as a natural-born storyteller, the acclaimed author of Rules of the Wild gives us nine incandescently smart stories, funny, elegant, and poignant by turns, that explore the power of changein relationships, in geographies, and across culturesto reveal unexpected aspects of ourselves.Taking us to Venice during film festival season, where a woman buys a Chanel dress she can barely afford; to a sun-drenched Greek village at the height of the summer holidays, where a teenager encounters the shocksof first love; and to a classical dance community in southern India, where a couple gives in to the urge to wander, these remarkable tales bring to life characters stepping outside their boundaries into new passions and destinies. Enlivened by Francesca Marcianos wit, clear eye, and stunning evocations of people and places, The Other Language is an enthralling tour de force rich with many pleasures. This ebook edition includes a READING GROUP GUIDE.

#agameoffavorites LAST DAY - DAY 10: INTERNATIONAL AUTHOR
Francesca Marciano is an Italian author who is one of my favorite hidden gems (books in English). I especially love her story collection The Other Language and her novel The End of Manners. I'm friends with her on Goodreads, so here are some of her 5 star reads (I especially love the Ferrante books and Jhumpa Lahiri).
Thanks @ErinSueG and @WhiskeyMistress for hosting such a fun challenge!

Erinsuereads I love how many of you have made connections with your authors! We have one more day tomorrow but it‘s kind of a fun bonus day! 6y

LauraBrook @Viji I feel the same way! Every time I open the app, I find so many books and authors I've never heard of before. But seem to have a loyal following by lots of people! I'll never come close to reading even half of what I want to. 😊 7y
