The Forbidden Game
The Forbidden Game: The Hunter; The Chase; The Kill | L.J. Smith
It began with a board game. What was supposed to be an evening of celebration with friends, fun, and games becomes a night of danger, drama, and obsessive love. Because when Jenny, her boyfriend, Tom, and their friends begin to play the Game, it comes to life. Suddenly they are in a dark world where Julian, the gorgeous guy who sold Jenny the Game, rules as Prince of the Shadows. Julian makes their darkest nightmares realities—and he will do anything to claim the beautiful Jenny as his prize. The Game is real, and the only way to win is to face your most secret fears. You cannot quit—to lose the Game is to lose your life. And that is just the beginning….

“Entering the #Shadow World can be deadly. Do so at your own risk.“

Another classic teen #90sHorror

Back in the day, I actually preferred The Forbidden Game trilogy to The Vampire Diaries series.

#AdventRecommends by @emilyrose_x (unpopular books) Day 11
So this is an old one, that I've read like 7(ish) years ago.
I love Smith's writing style a lot. And in my opinion this is her best trilogy. It is a bit dark, as most of her books are. But the idea is so original (at least it was once upon a time when I read it).
It has sort of a Jumanji vibe (maybe that's just me, again).
I guess fans of R. L. Stine might like this as well.

One of my favourite podcasts, Teen Creeps is going to be finishing off the trilogy of ten-year-old me's heart on Wednesday. So, I figure today is the perfect time for a reread! I'm 30% into The Hunter and so far it's holding up extremely well. I'm a little more skeptical about some of Jenny's choices, and apparently time has not granted me even the slightest interest in Tom's general existence, but there's so much to like!

Want to play a game? You must win to be released from your worst nightmares. Okay, maybe your worst nightmares when you were 10.
Your turn....

A post for my L. J. Smith love. Forbidden Game reminds me a lot of Hunger Games, but with less physical , more psychological horrors... And also a classic L. J. Smith romance (and by that I mean dangerous and swoony)

MrBook Nice pic! 8y
