A detailed look into the murder of Peter Falconio and attempted abduction of Joanne Lees his girlfriend. A frightening insight into the dangers of travelling along our desolate outback roads. This case along with Ivan Milat's backpacker murders inspired the Wolfcreek movie. A terrifying case, I cannot begin to imagine how terrified Joanne must have been when hiding from the killer just after he had murdered her partner Peter. A haunting read

Mistermandolin @Nicki_K This case has intrigued me for years. It‘s like the case against Murdoch - though flawed - was just enough to put him away but Lees was a totally untrustworthy ‘witness‘ who fibbed and/or changed her story over and over again. The classic Robin Bowles study is due for reissue this Thursday and it‘s at the top of my to read list. I think the Murdoch conviction is unsafe (DNA ‘evidence‘ notwithstanding) but maybe Bowles will change my mind. 4y
Mistermandolin @Nicki_K I should add that I‘m convinced that Joanne Lees underwent a terrifying ordeal and that she was one brave lady. It‘s just that there were so many holes in her story. 4y
