A SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Be immersed in the Minecraft universe for the first time in a thrilling new adventure like no other! Perfect for fans of DanTDM and StampyCat! Minecraft: The Island will tell the story of a new hero stranded in the world of Minecraft, who must survive the harsh, unfamiliar environment and unravel the secrets of the island. Washed up on a beach, the lone castaway looks around the shore. Where am I? Who am I? And why is everything made of blocks? But there isn't much time to soak up the sun. It's getting dark, and there's a strange new world to explore! The top priority is finding food. The next is not becoming food. Because there are others out there on the island . . . like the horde of zombies that appear after night falls. Crafting a way out of this mess is a challenge like no other. Who could build a home while running from exploding creepers, armed skeletons, and an unstoppable tide of hot lava? Especially with no help except for a few makeshift tools and sage advice from an unlikely friend: a cow. In this world, the rules don't always make sense, but courage and creativity go a long way. There are forests to explore, hidden underground tunnels to loot, and undead mobs to defeat. Only then will the secrets of the island be revealed. Minecraft: The Island by Max Brooks, New York Times bestselling author of World War Z, is the first official Minecraft novel.

My son and friends are putting together rules for a Minecraft world game. Since son‘s mom is a lawyer (me), he was voted to write the rules. He then got the friends to each sign off and agree to the rules. He says he doesn‘t want to be a lawyer, but ahem, this screams lawyer-wannabe. These are 8th grade boys. I love this! So much better than the trouble we can imagine middle schoolers can get themselves into!

GingerAntics This does look suspiciously like his first contract! lol Love it! 5y
Texreader @GingerAntics Exactly! He even pointed out to me he added the x‘s so they‘d know they were the signature lines! I love this kid! Then he spent an hour showing me an online history/ww2 war game he‘s been playing for hours on end. Then he quotes back the history he‘s learned from it during relevant conversations. He makes my life so fun and interesting (edited) 5y

TEArificbooks I am always fascinated by what kids learn from video games. My boys are always telling me geography and biology info they learned from Minecraft. 5y

If your kid likes Minecraft or you're an adult fan, make sure you get this once the giveaway starts! My husband and I are finishing up the print version, it has a surprisingly unique angle - the MC is from our world & wakes up in Minecraft, the whole book is basically a giant existential crisis full of endearingly cliche self-help platitudes. Gamers will be able to picture the story vividly!

I'm only half way through "The Island" and I already love it. For a Minecraft novel it's surprisingly mature and heartfelt. Getting Max Brooks to write an official Minecraft novel was a stroke of genius.
