Translation set in Thailand, about 5 yr old Kampol, abandoned by his parents in front of their former tenement building and the community who takes care of him.

While I loved the slice of life part, the 'novel' is told in small vignettes without any story arc and tho there is some humor in the little stories the book is sad, yes this community is taking care of Kampol but he's been abandoned by his parents for reasons that are never explained.

Kampol is a child left behind by his parents at a young age and has to fend for himself with the help of various friends and characters in his community. This is the first novel by a Thai female author to be translated into English and it was a delight to read. Where other authors would craft this story as a trauma narrative, this is much more about his daily life and the people he interacts with along the way.
