The Society's sole purpose is to protect the general population from supernatural monsters, and Kelia's their top Slayer. But when her father is murdered and her handler insists it's suicide, she starts to question whether The Society really has her best interests at heart. Now, to solve her father's death, Kelia must work with an unexpected ally: Drew Knight, an infamous Sea Shadow and the most beautiful creature Kelia has ever set eyes upon. A Sea Shadow who, without intending to, just may show her who the real enemy is...and it'll only cost her one unnamed favor to be collected at a future date. But after her affiliation with Drew Knight is discovered, Kelia is forced to choose between what she's known since the beginning of her existence...or a dark, terrifying truth that puts her life at risk. Find out who dies and who survives in SEA OF DARKNESS, the first installment of The Vampire Pirate Saga, an exciting new urban fantasy romance readers of Sarah J Maas and Karen Marie Moning are sure to devour!

I can‘t say I didn‘t like the book because I did, mostly. Honestly, I‘m feeling really torn with how I feel about it. The plot was good, the writing not so much. I feel that it really had potential to be something great, but it just sort of missed the mark. I don‘t know, maybe it will get better with the continuation of the series

The plot is alright, but nothing special. The writing is... not great. Constant inner monologues, even during action scenes. Much of it repetitive. And I'm not good with the prospect of a romance between an undead centennial and an orphaned teenager. I'm contemplating skimming the remaining two books to see how it will play out, but I doubt there will be any surprises. 2/5 stars.

Girl... you don‘t even carry a rag to wipe the blood away? Do you need your special cleaning kit at home? And what are your blades made from that they will rust that quickly? I guess vampire blood is really corrosive, speeds up oxidation? Should have brought your kit with you then, shouldn‘t you?

I‘ve only read one paragraph and already I have so many questions. 😆

Leniverse Chapter 2 - she‘s back from mission, has been debriefed, is remembering that she really must clean her blades - after she‘s been to see her father. These weapons are never gonna get cleaned. They‘ll just accumulate dried blood until they are completely blunt. 5y
LauraJ That‘s how diseases get spread! Clean your knives 😈 5y
zsuzsanna_reads @Leniverse Wait, they're already rusted and dull! How long have they been dirty for? 5y

Uh... Vampire Pirates? That will either be really entertaining in a good way or very entertaining in a bad way, right?
It's on Kindle Unlimited so I might as well.

O' pirate queen @CrowCAH have you read this series?

GondorGirl This sounds ridiculous in the best way possible. I look forward to your review. 5y
CrowCAH OMG no; this looks super good and right up my alley! Thanks for the tag; added to the TBRRRRRR!!!! ☠️⚓️⚔️ 5y
Leniverse @GondorGirl @CrowCAH I'm on a bit of a KU binge, and will probably read at least the first book in the trilogy this weekend. But I've also found a steampunk fairytale series and I think "Beauty and the Clockwork Beast" takes precedence over everything. ? 5y
