Letters to the Church
Letters to the Church | Francis Chan
6 posts | 7 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
If God had it His way, what would our churches look like? In his most powerful book yet, Pastor Francis Chan digs deep into biblical truths, reflections on his own failures and dreams, and stories of ordinary people God is using to change the world. As Chan says, Weve strayed so far from what God calls Church. We all know it. We know that what were experiencing is radically different from the Church in Scripture. For decades, church leaders like myself have lost sight of the inherent mystery of the Church. We have trained people sitting in the pews to become addicted to lesser things. Its time for that to change. When Jesus returns, will He find us caring for His Brideeven more than for our own lives? Letters to the Church reminds us of how powerful, how glorious the Church once was and calls us to once again be the Church God intended us to be.

Sadly, even I have experienced this as a leader in church and yet we are called to a serious level of responsibility.

We weren't meant to live in the zoo. Lot's to chew in in this book ...but it took a few pages before I could really soak in the message of this.

I enjoyed reading this though I did get strong feelings of arrogance and assumption as Chan wrote. He tried to dispel that as he could but it still crept into his writing. It was thought provoking and challenging though hard to consider application.

CouronneDhiver I‘m curious. What kind of assumptions did you find bothersome? 13mo
Clint The arguments he made assumed the reader was a certain way which seemed really simplistic. It sorta assumed that he had the best and most biblical approach and everyone else was a dullard. 13mo
