Thank you to Edelweiss+ for introducing me to this fabulous author. I did the diligent thing and began with the 1st one in the series, but couldn't wait until I got the 2nd to jump into the digital ARC I had of the 3rd. We get a better feel for the character of the various detectives in this one, but the crime and suspects really take center stage. Once again the plot was easy to follow and the twists took me by surprise. I loved it. 4.5/5 stars

Christmas is not a great time for DI Fawley. His wife has walked out & his next case involves the death of two young children in a fire. It seems as if they had been left in the house alone and evidence emerges that it may not have been an accident at all.

Catching up on some very overdue ARCs. 4🌟

Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, Penguin Books (UK), for the opportunity to read an ARC. NetGalley

This was another solid read and mystery. As with her other books, there are a few twists along the way. The story also jumps from past to present which gives more depth. I like the added details of articles and the fire report. The plot itself is steady and builds to a clever climax. The characters are well developed and you want them to succeed. I like the connections between them but it doesn't steal focus from the story

Whilst my favourite still remains ‘Close to Home‘ this book is just as good. I read this in a day as I physically could not put it down. This book has so many twists that you just don‘t see coming. #3 in her series. #carahunter #DIFawley #bookreview #greatread #bookrecommendation

There is a fire and two young children and their mother die tragically. This is found to be arson and the investigation begins.I love the way this was set out, Adam Fawley‘s chapters are from his point of view, and the others from a third person view. There is also a chapter covering the fire itself and this is heartbreaking, some real emotion here.

thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review

“Up at her window, Lauren Kaminsky watches the police officers down the path and out of sight. Then she picks up her mobile. ‘Ned – call me back, will you? The police have been here.‘ She ends the call but remains standing at the window. Her face is troubled.”....this is one of those books that keeps you guessing...good so far!

“Under the twisted window frame and the metal pipes and the sheet of scorched plasterboard, there‘s something else. A human hand.”......well this is getting interesting, grim, but has grabbed my attention

Cara hunter has done it again produced another excellent read. Whenever I open one of her books it‘s like putting on a comfy pair of slippers. It‘s lovely to hear more about the investigative team and how they conduct their investigation. The plot is brilliant. Can‘t wait to see the next book 💜
